Hey guys. Just need a bit of help here: Having a few issues with light. Just put new head light globes in to see if I could get brighter light but it hasn't changed. It's very hard to see at night. I just want it to be bright. Any advice would be great?

Best thing you can do it install a couple of new relays with good power supply to them and use the old wiring to trigger them. You should be able to run better globes also as it won't put a heap of draw on the factory wiring and keep melting/blowing fuses

What's the condition of your headlight reflector. Are they still shinny or look dull/dirty?

Condition of the headlight reflectors are great, they are the TYC aftermarket ones, but they were brand new and in very good condition. Do you guys know anyone local around south east suburbs that specialize in this?

Get the alternator tested. a bit of a tell tale sign is, if the lights don't get brighter from when the car is switched off to when the engine is running it could be a corroded earth connection (one near battery or the alternator output is a bit low). need around 13.5v - 14.1v range across battery lead posts, anything either side could be a problem. don't test the brass terminals on the battery as it isn't accurate. are you using a underdrive crank pulley or stock diameter one?

Hey champ, Im honestly not too savvy when it comes to all that, but I am going to take it to an auto elec, just spoke to one who said might just need another relay or something.

try the 90/100 watt bulbs. Use them in mine and they did make a difference. Cheap enough on ebay.

I dont think its the bulb that is making the difference to be honest, I just put $120 globes in and it didnt change a thing. Will check with auto elec this week and let you guys know.

With a hid kit each light light runs off its own little module. Look like mini car audio amps. Its not worth paying someone to install they charge like $100. Its piss easy to do. Makes your lights so much brighter and better all round. I paid almost $400 for my senator. But you can get kitss from $30. Very worthy investment.

Please do not put HID kits in a VL headlight. They only suit a projector headlight, which the VL headlight is not. They will blind every oncoming car. They are also illegal for this reason.

You are guaranteed to melt your fuse holder, surrounding rail and also destroy the reflectors in the headlights in time. I have seen this happen many times. I've fitted those TYC lights and found them to be ****e. While the reflectors are nice and shiny the adjusters for the beam don't work properly. The adjustment knobs just strip on their threads. I've had troubles trying to get them adjusted to throw a nice bright spread of light over the road. My solution was to strip the TYC headlight and fit the reflector to an original GM housing.

Don't put HID's in a VL. they don't have the right glass. VL's have refractor glass, and HID's require projector type lights. it will just scatter the light, blinding everyone

Your senator has different lights. Afaik they're projector lights. They suit HID lights. In vl's with their lights the beam is like a flood light and it's no good for anyone. Especially if the reflector is faded and the glass is dirty. My suggestion to the OP is to get some tyc headlights and gut them for the reflector and fit it to your existing lights. Then upgrade your headlight wiring, here's a good link http://www.4wdaction.com.au/forum/vi...c.php?t=119481 (http://www.4wdaction.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=119481) that explains what to do. I'm doing this at the moment. After you do that add some 90/100W globes. You'll have brand new car lights. ---------- Post added 12-07-15 at 13:14 ---------- http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...alID=EB AY-AU (http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=221678321309&globalID=EBAY-AU) Here's a plug in loom for you. There's pairs of lights on eBay for under $150. Good proper lights for under $200 is the go.

Just check voltage at the headlights. I bet youve got a decent drop. As said earlier, put some relays on with the factory wiring just acting as the trigger and youll be fine. Also make sure they are adjusted correctly, that helps in a big way and can often be over looked
