Just thought I'd post my recent trip to the track.
Specs are, ebay gt45, 50mm wastegate, single 4" to twin 3" exhaust, microtech EFI, water/meth, 40 thou 186 block, 202 dish pistons, 5.9:1 compression, blue rods with arp bolts, stockish blue head, stock valves, 238/248 solid cam, trimatic, 23spline UC torana diff.
34psi, 28 degrees timing.
I know its alot of boost for the outcome but it is a 186 holden with virtually stock ports etc .

Nah mate no typo, started off at 8.2:1 then 7.0:1 then 6.1:1 and finally 5.9:1, each time it made more power even though with more boost, but when you've got a crap flowing head, you need to be able to run high boost to make the power on pump 95-98 and still have reasonable timing values. When it was blow thru carb it did 123mph on 30psi on straight caltex 98 with 25 degrees timing. Drivability is really not that bad lol. Cheers

How does it run such hi boost from that size turbz on pump 95-98? I'm tripping out
Very impressive

Low compression , at 8.2:1 I could only run 20psi and 14 degrees timing. Water/methanol helps also. Cheers

27-08-13, 20:59 GMT+10#11 This is so cool! Saw it at the track last Saturday.
Got a couple of Q's, is that the 69mm compressor GT45 with 1.05 rear housing?
What gears and convertor are you running?

27-08-13, 21:53 GMT+10#12 Cheers guys, its got a 4500rpm convertor in it, the converter was built for me when the 202 and gt35r was in it, so its a bit tight. If I sit on the footbrake for about 8 seconds it will make 4psi @ around 3500rpm. Its got 3.08 gears and is near on the limiter (7000rpm) going through the traps. Going 9 inch soon with 3.00 gears to take some rpms off it. Yeah its the 69mm/1.05 rear ebay $380 landed turbo . Cheers

28-08-13, 20:40 GMT+10#14 It did 123mph with a carby without water/meth. My engine is far from fancy lol. Still has rust marks in the bores from sitting under my bench for 10 years lol. Sorry mate but how is 133mph from a 186 behind the times? Not saying its the fastest around but I thought it was a fair achievement. Cheers

28-08-13, 21:57 GMT+10#15 500+hp from a 186 is pretty damn good in my books! I don't care what year it is!
