Hey guys. past few days, the VL has been running really bad, missing heaps under 3000. i done the following today: new plugs new leads new rotor button new dizzy cap new air filter 2 weeks ago: AFM o2 Sensor i reset the timing on the dizzy, and got it right, but it had no power what so ever at 15* bumped it to 25* and it was pinging, its now sitting at around 19 and its missing every once in a while. usually blows lots of fuel smoke also on takeoff anyone have any ideas before i burn it? for the AFM was it 382 ohms between pins 2 and 4? anyone recommend a tuner for SE Melb? i wanted to get my 3" exhaust first, but i gotta get it running right

nope, there was a leak off one of the vacuum hoses, but i found and fixed that. ALTHOUGH, there is a hose with no end, so i have just put a bolt in it (for the cruise) before vacuume was around 10 in/hg and withit blocked (now) its at 21 in/hg

Unplug your AFM & see if it makes a difference. Just to rule out that. If it's missing heaps it might be your power transistor. ROUGH IDLE VL COMMODORES A common problem with the 3-litre Nissan engine is where the idle deteriorates to the point where it will not even run. Before that happens there is an initial loss of power, which just gets worse. A prime cause of this is the Air Mass Meter drifting beyond specifications - check the load pin (3rd in from back of engine - white wire) against an earth should have KOEO no less than 1.26v (excessive lean) and no more 1.32v (rich). If this load setting base is out, you won't be able to adjust the idle mixture (1st pin in from front of AMM) factory lean at 3.6v to richer say 2.0v to a satisfactory mixture - AMM will need replacing. ---------- Post added 25-03-12 at 22:01 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by MaD_WoG [View Post] anyone recommend a tuner for SE Melb? i wanted to get my 3" exhaust first, but i gotta get it running right http://www.facebook.com/pages/JJM-Tu...wall&filter=12 (http://www.facebook.com/pages/JJM-TurboWorld/215460581840455?sk=wall&filter=12)

Hasn't done a head gasket has it? Wouldnt think it would cause pinging, but the missing maybe. The oil under the cap still black?

i thought it may have been bad fuel... topped it up... only things left that i haven't tested: injectors fuel pumps fuel filter fuel reg hopefully Hallam Performance will be able to diagnose it tomorrow, and fix it. to date, what has been done: service of oil filter, oil, air filter. new plugs gapped to 1.1mm new leads (high performance, bosch max i think) new cas new cas plug afm x2 o2 sensor dizzy cap rotor button dizzy removed and retimed timing tested between 10-20, sitting at 19 or so atm ---------- Post added 27-03-12 at 00:09 ---------- i'll change the fuel filter tomorrow morning, and see how that goes... if i give it 15% throttle or so (VERY LIGHT) it will rev up nicely to 4000 or so, as soon as i give it more,it plays up...
