I bought this VL SL two days ago as a rolling shell. It has been painted a deep metaillic blue with colour-coded bumpers. The plan is to have it driveable by the end of next weekend! I had a turbo kit, a variety of S2 N/A motors and a good N/A auto trans laying around the place so, I selected the best bottom end and the best top end and put them together with a fresh ACL monotorque head gasket generously coated in ACL Hylomar. The trans I had was in good working order but, the fluid was filthy and the pan gasket was leaking like no tomorrow. So I removed the torque converter and drained it as best as I could and removed the pan and let the fluid drain over night. I then replaced the filter, scrubbed the pan clean and put it back on with a new rubber gasket before bolting it up to the engine. ---------- Post added 15-03-11 at 20:50 ---------- The trans mounts on the crossmember I had, were completely collapsed and were no good so down to Sprint Auto Parts it was to get a pair of spankers! I degreased and pressure cleaned the cross-member before fitting them. Today, I finished fitting all the last little bits and pieces to the engine then lifted it in! By dinner time, I had the engine and trans mounted, loom fully installed, radiator in with fan and shroud on, installed front brake calipers and installed a manual steering rack. The car came from the factory with manual steering but, it had a power steering rack fitted with no lines, reservoir or pump. So I borrowed the one out of My BT1 project for now. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Haha, I'm on holidays Well today, I mounted My GReddy intercooler core and B&M trans cooler. I also acquired a GKtech intercooler piping kit. The hot piping required a fair bit of trimming to fit nicely but I got it looking mint. The cold pipe had already been chopped to have the AFM located at the bottom of the radiator, which I didn't mind as it makes the bay look neater. I will get better engine bay pics later on when I thoroughly wash it. The shell has been sitting for quite a while and the whole car is full of dust, dirt, cobwebs etc. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I almost got it finished today but a few things took way longer than they should have, probably cos I'm getting tired of working on this car all day every day of my only week off in a long time lol. Things I done today: - Transfered both fuel pumps from donor car - Fitted tailshaft - Fitted bonnet - Inspected diff housing mounts for condition and security - Bled brakes - Fitted steering column this is how it looks now: I am not getting any power to the ECU so it wont start but, I haven't looked in to it yet. Other than that, all that is left to do it fit the shifter and put the dash back together. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

EDIT: I got it running, it was just a bad connection in the fuse box stopping the ECU from getting power! So I bled the cooling system and got the trans fluid level right and installed the shifter. I took it for a small drive before giving it a full wash and vac and then I took for a decent ~10km drive. I am very happy with how it drives! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

A few updates. Installed surge tank and Bosch motorsport 044 fuel pump in the boot. Painted up a rocker cover in wrinkle black and smoothed an oil cap then painted it glos black. Just need some big breather fittings before installation. Also got new plates for it! People don't seem to get the numeric part, I have found myself explaining it to everyone I have showed. :/ Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yep, it's the daily driver At the moment, the 044 is running off the factory wiring but, I am going to re-wire it with a seperate fuse and relay to overcome the voltage drop and poor earth. I will also chuck in some new spark plugs, play with fuel pressure and boost levels and fingers crossed I can get it on the dyno at tafe this week! and a pic from tonights cruising From left to right: My missus, MBHSV5 (Mark), Myself, -pumba- (Sean). So tuesday night, I fixed the exhaust leak at the rear cat flange, fitted new spark plugs and gapped them down to .8mm and I re-wired the fuel pump with a new relay and fuse. This afternoon I went to enzed during My lunch break and bought a brass fitting for the manifold pressure to the rising rate FPR. (original one was snapped off) So now that is all connected up. Fingers crossed, I can get it on the dyno at tafe tomorrow!

Nar, I'm not going to lower it. It is My daily driver and tow vehicle so lowered suspension is impractical.
