hey guys im after everyones opinion here. who here uses the check valve on the bosch 044 and if you do use one do you use the standard valve or an after market one?
and im planning on rewiring the fuel pump with some better wire but just wanna know where most people run it from the battery? do you just zip tie it along a fuel line or whats the deal? seems a bit dodgy thats all.
cheers
I swapped mine out with a speedflow check valve, as the bosch one requires you to put a banjo fitting on (which makes it come out at a 90degree angle), whereas the speedflow one goes straight out.
Yea i'm sure you can run your power wires along the fuel line etc, i don't see an issue with that, as long as your wires aren't exposed and there's no holes in the fuel line.
The only reason it would be mandatory on a twin pump system is if one of the pumps would fail, otherwise how do they maintain pressure. The only time you need to maintain pressure is between priming and starting, in which case i just start while priming. I've ran twin pump systems in the past and it's been fine

Yes if one of the pumps fails or starts to fall over it can push fuel back through it causeing a pressure drop at the rail, we all know how good lean outs are for engines.
It keeps pressure in the lines so there is no priming time and no chance of air bleeding back into the system. Pumps don't like cavitation and carry on. When you have large lines including returns its a pain.
I just like my cars to perform as good driveability wise as they came from the factory. Each to their own, for the sake of about $40 why not.
yeah i got a speedflow check valve today it cost me $60 at trade price pretty pricey for a little valve. oh well.
so do you guys just run the power cable from the battery under the car just zip tie it or what??

duke557 explained their purpose, seems like decent logic too me.

That's sort of a good thing. Gets oil pumping around the engine pre-startup lol
