VL TURBO NATIONALS
Ok its hard to know quite where to start with all this and im sure some things will be missed but ill try my best.
Firstly I would like to thank POLAR DISPLAYS AND PRINT for all there mighty fine work on all of the track banners, posters and car stickers that they have done for me in the last few months. It was a real shame Chris the owner of the business was unable to attend. He would have been just like many off you. Just another top bloke hanging out with his mates having a good time.
His efforts have surpassed all of my expectations and i couldnt recommend him to you enough. So if you own a business please take just a few minutes to view his website. www.polardisplays.com.au (http://www.polardisplays.com.au) He has done. I wont go into explaining all the stuff they do but once you have seen his site you will know where to go to get some stuff you never knew was possible.
Also a huge mention to Steve (SirGeo) from Calaisturbo.com.au. We have spent many hours on the phone and going over bits and pieces on how to capture the audience. His little polar bear trick was classic and im glad you all found it amusing. His advertising for the events once again surpassed my expectations and he was willing to go out of his way to do what was necessary. His Ladies and Gents as we call them the Mods arent to bad either lol. They have done a top job in the help of the promotion and cleaning up threads where they felt fit. It was great to meet them at the Swan on Saturday night also.
A large mention needs to be said for the other sponsors for there prizes or cash injection into the event. Coming on early we had Street Commodores. Rajab racing, Jd Customs, Brightline, Abbotts, 6Boost, Mitre10-Stanley, Jimy Tools Dalkat, Black Swan, Ice Ignition, Meguires, City Discount tyres. Thanks again all your work has been so appreciated not just by myself but no doubt the prize winners on the VLTNATS.
I felt that I needed to also make an individual mention to my new mates from team Ignite and MR TRANSMISSIONS. Dave what a bloke! He heard that I had gone through hours of trying to get my car ready from the nats after my last drag racing experience and it had come down to the fact that I thought that my new gearbox which I had recond by him had an issue. So he quite simply assured me that I would be racing on the day. He said tow your car over and ill bring down another box and install it and check yours. Anyway to cut a long story short after installing a second hand box which he borrowed he test drove it and the problem was still there. After spending a day working in the Goodyear service center and Motel car park to get me up and running he found that the tail shaft that I had had made twice was the problem. He even dropped the car off to me that afternoon and it was like new. So he said mate you go and have a good time on this one. I did! Until I blew 3rd gear. Dave being the gentleman he is just said this ones on me. I later asked if he would mind me doing the power skid his reply was its getting rebuilt anyway lol. So if anyone needs gearboxs or diffs. Give him a call. Friendliest kent youll ever meet. Doesnt matter where your from.
My mechanic Locksmif you did a top job of getting my car ready for the event and have always helped. The night before we were due to load up I spotted a leaking turbo line. One phone call later and Chicken dinner the man was finished. Cheers bro!
Not only that 1 call at the track and the car was fixed too. Mate I need the loop on the tail shaft. Done! No complaints to my face anyway lol. Also thanks to Jake Anthoney and Dylan for there help with car bits too.
All my helpers. You know who you were in case I forget you but here goes.. Id have to start with my mate Major for helping me set up the track, towing my sorry ass car over and back and getting sucked in to help with scrutineering then helping compile the racers times for the next day and a half. Top job buddy!. Also to Mr Nitron for help in the scruts and also the odd bit of ninja advice.
Another greatly dedicated helper was FATMAN from QLD. What a gun. He helped on the gate to hand out show bags. I said mate get out of the rain dont worry about it. He never left the gate til I came back a few hours later. The poor fella was drenched. Pure dedication. He also helped do tickets and other errans all over the place. All the while just happy to be part of it. In fact I dont even know if he saw any racing?? Hopefully the Saturday and Sunday nights made up for it.
Ticket sellers. Thanks so much for making it possible to raffle it off. You sold heaps of tickets and did an awesome job. Sprigzy, Latoya, Danni, Ben, Vaj, Sov, Jack and Gas747 Thanks again. Who ever else if I missed you thanks you also,
On that note. Thanks Paul for running the advert on ETstreet.com for the last month or so. Mentions to Luke Oxley from Fullboost for the coverage and mentions also on your site. Greatly appreciated.
Mention for Boss diffs in Adelaide for the short notice to try and get my car sorted and also Ultra9 in QLD for milling up a set of 31 splines and having them to my door within 3 days of the order.
Once again a huge thanks is needed and a pat on the back to you for helping support the event. Sorry it was a wash on Saturday but it was out of my control. We called the meeting shy of its estimated closing time due to safety and the fact more rain was evident. It was the best time to call it and allowed another coat of VHT to go down for the big guns the next day. All in all think it worked pretty well.
Thanks Anthony Maatouks for the run down the quarter in the automobile. Was definitely a highlight of my weekend., Maybe you could let me dive it next time, lmfao.
Also thanks to the Interstate travellers who drove down to race. Sherif, IGNITE. Maatouks, Team Karam and Aboveboard automotive from ACT. Mr VLT, Damo and the Seaton Auto boys. In total I think including SA entrants we had about 11 entrys. Well done interstaters we really proved the point. People will travel 1800+ to an event yet some wouldnt come 140kms. Im not going to harp on this but we never once looked back and said lets not do this even with the pressure that was placed on my shoulders half way thru Saturday when Rus set give it up guys call it off tomorrow. We stuck to our guns and of course Sunday was the day. Even the Big guys said you do what you feels best. In the end Rus said I made a mistake and the event finnaly was pulled off.
Thanks to Ron (scaryride) for the offers to stay or come work on the car at my place etc its always a pleasure to meet more people like this.
Pistol Paul. Thanks for the efforts all day and so many offers to do anything. I needed. Cheers for taking a heap of pics I cant wait to see them all. Once again truly a pleasure to deal with and very helpful. Stayed to the end and helped take down banners and take pics after every one left. Even deleted some of his engagement pics off his camera to get the final shots. True dedication.
Colezy thanks for bringing the car up on a trailer just to have it there in the show and shine. Sorry about the stray cat. Also offered lifts to people that need to get home or around along with many others. Cheers!
Liam from Street Commodores. Sorry I busted ya nuts many many times over the last 4 months. All the internet advertising and Street commodores adverts turned out great. Pitty you couldnt make it. Im sure the Issue when it hits the stands will be a souvenir for all that will be cherished. Myself included!!
Hamound. Was great to meet you and thanks for the 4wd efforts in the carpark With out ya some people may have lost there cars deep in the grass. lol.
Duf588 Great to catch up back at the Motel and cheers for the beers. Was bloody needed late after all the days work.
Ank cheers for the idea of the street fighter class many enjoyed it. Real shame you never came up to the event. Oh well im sure you had stuff to do.
SA crew. Thanks for being so supportive over the last few months and all coming over to the event. I sure missed out on seeing you guys. Anyway no doubt we will be having a catch sesh very soon. Drink some beers and make up for the time lost.
Jason 88Chaser Cheers for helping desecrate my bar tab at the Swan. Next time toughen up when the Fatman buys you drinks. Raptor. Cheers also for the fine efforts and help with bits and pieces. Your one funny *******. To call me Saturday morning when its raining and asking if you should wash your car before you come had me in stitches,
Also must mention the Tea House motor in for a great place to stay! When ever im in town thats where ill be staying
Anyway im sure this is enough of a read for now so I will finish tonight by saying if you attended the event from where ever you are I hope we were able to satisfy you. Sure there were some glitches here and there and we will learn dramatically where it went wrong. But dont think for a second ive canned the idea of the 2011 Nationals.
Ive had some great offers of support and new sponsors have also made mention. If your in that category or think that you would like to be part of the next event please make it clear. Your help is whats needed to get us over the line.
To wrap up we will be looking into the next one and are all ears. So any ideas of improvement are welcome. Hope the read wasnt to long. If it was you probably were one of the people who never even made the effort to come.
On that note if I have missed you im very sorry. After just 12 hours sleep in 3 days and being rushed off my feet if none of this makes scence it coz ive fallen asleep on the pad of the computer almost 10 times to finish this read. Ill get winners details up soon to.
Thanks for your time
Regards
