I am also interested in this question as i will be up for a rebuild soon. I see Hi Octane Racing use CP pistons and Pauter X-Beam rods in their 1500hp RB30 short blocks. Also, who is the best in the country for RB twin cam head work?

u can spend 10k on a head but once you start fitting hks 296 cams it gets very expensive very fast...

my bro done a head for a 26/30 it made 1000hp at all 4 on e85 on

I'd start by calling or emailing rips over in NZ, they and Rigoli's in Aus have had some solid results from this combo and Rigoli's Im pretty sure used Methanol so they should be able to give u some starting points for your own build. Worth a shot I guess.

You will get a million different answers in this thread, as everyone will give their opinion, rather than a definitive answer. Not being a smart ass, I'm saying that there are so many good products out there, that "the best" is a very broad question. Now having sponsored and helped with a lot of fast RB's now, I can tell you a few things. Mark Jacobson, as far as I know is the fastest RB in australia, having a run a 7.7@184mph, and his engine uses off the shelf CP pistons. The added benifit of running these, is that while they only make a 8.5:1 compression piston, if you use a RB25 piston, they are .017" shorter, but if you deck the block that .017", they have a bigger dome and give you 9-9.5:1 compression. Conrods, I would use almost anything, but my best RB pick would be carillo, which Rocket keeps in stock, followed by Pauter. Crower do some good rods, but not sure if they do RB30. Billet main caps and girdle are now also available locally. For cylinder head work, again, there are many good people out there, Pigsy's brother is a very talented man on the die grinder, So Abbot engines, Alex Cowie at Cowie performance is another great head porter. Bullet cylinder heads has a CNC profile for the RB26, and Tony Knight from Night engines has done some very very trick head work as well. So they would be my first ports of call. Block prep and oil system mods, along with oil pump are just as important as what pistons and rods to run, as is tuning. There are a number of things you need to do to get the motor to live at the power you want to make, but it's be easier to tell you over the phone, feel free to call me anytime and ask. Regards....................Kyle

Personally have no idea... but they're a pretty massive company that deals quite heavily in the automotive/motorsport field with component manufacture...including pistons. For ur average joe on here tho with a quick street car, my belief is that if u spend ur money in the right areas, u wont even need forgies.. For a serious engine making serious power - go with a proven item, might not be the cheapest option, but if everyone is using it and no one is having problems, probably not a bad idea.

Thanks for your help kyle i read elsewhere acl pistons were made by ross probly b/s some other info rips nz uses argo good for 7s rigolis use par rajab use carillo so it seems any forged rod is as good as the setup/tune as for pistons im going cp had a great run with them

As far as conrods go, I think you'll be fine with any brand up to 1000hp. Guys in the US with 2J's have made 1000 RWHP with eagle rods with 5/16 bolts I wouldn't try it with an RB, but the point stands that tuning is far more important than rod manufacturer. 6BOOST Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
