hey guys ive been offered a dirt cheap 5spd manual excel about 1996 or 98 maybe. Are they any good? I need a cheap daily right now so im probably gonna get it but if everyone says they are **** i wont...
Can you install a standard car cd player into them?? im gonna have to make up for the lack of engine power with STEREO POWER loll
What should i look out for apart from the obvious smokey exhaust and noisy driveline?
they are the tuffest cu*ts out man , i got a hand me down for nothing of my sister 10 buks a week to get to work and back , whos complaining. let me add they acully rip standstills and twinys at that if your lucky haha =]
Apparently, these used to be the "least" claimed upon used car for any aftermarket warranty work (info from QVWN rep at the time)
Great for a cheap car, early ones in this shape used to get a big crack at the top of the dash,so dont think its been "rolled" or anything if it has one,and you can just get a dash mat to cover them.

Im thinking you may be asking this ibecause you have the model with the "rounded" corners type of head unit ?
you can still fit a standard din size head unit in this case, but you may have to file the fascia of the dash in the corners a touch, i think you could buy a radio surround from a later model excel that would neaten the job (fill the gaps top and bottom)
MT
I had one years ago as a daily used **** all fuel. I would ring each gear out/flat change and its still going on my uncles farm as a bush basher for my 11yr old little rev head cusin

$50 for 91Ron full tank - 400-450km to a tank.
i bought mine for 500, she's a little ripper 320 000 on the clock, just changed the oil in her every 5000 for the last 20 000.... still going fuckn strong.. i drive it like a nutcase most places and i got to tell you mate they are pretty much bulletproof... never broken down on me.. and yeah it has a cracked dash but who cares, it's a daily.. mines green.. poofy as but at 45 a tank that lasts 500km your laughin!
BEST DAILY EVER!!
Thanks for the replys guys. Its a manual 1995 excel sport with only 130 000kms and its already got a cd player and new speakers so for a grand its a bargain.

Im just gonna change the fluid and the timing belt coz i heard if the belt snaps they bend the valves
