Just wondering if anyone is using this Exedy clutch?
NSK-6908HHHDB This kit is suitable for amateur competition. For Example: Drifting, Drag Racing etc.
It includes a new Cover Assembly, providing approximately 1450Kg clamp load,
a sprung centre driven plate fitted with 5 ceramic buttons per side and a new release bearing.
Exedy Has told me
" We manufacture a clutch kit which should be suitable for your application. The downside is that it is cerametalic which is not suitable for the slipping required in traffic driving. They are very aggressive in their engagement and are prone to shudder at take off when hot. Unfortunately you have very little choice with your power output."
Ive also heard u can get the standard presure plate re- torqued ??
Maybe i should save for a twin plate clutch setup??
Its just a weekend warrior and wanna keep some driveability.
Ok got a price from my local repco for the exedy clutch NSK 6908HDB $769 retail.
Just wondering where i can get this clutch or a cuisoned button clutch from desent prise.. i kinda thought $796 was kinda steep.
Also I called exedy in melbourne and they said that this was the only option and twin plates dont come out from japan or something.
I've got a Extreme H/D Cushion Button clutch with I think 1050KG clamping force brand new you can have for $450 + post and a 5kg flywheel (needs machining) to suit for $250. These are R33 gear but if you have an MX7 I believe you can use them together without a problem

Ok What kinda power will it hold??
it will be used with the mx7.
cant i use my standard flywheel??
cheers
Great clutch, very very easy to drive with. Mine held to 240rwkw then began slipping.
If you want more than that then Exedy also offer twin-plates. I run a Hyper-Multi twin plate in mine now, wouldn't look back.

hmm Its just its making 260rwkw at the moment and with new turbo/bottom end will be making 300rwkw+
I asked Exedy in melbourne and they said they cant do a twin plate for the
mx7
where bouts did u get yours Jack?? and how much did it set u back??
Try Keith Shelton racing, he built my clutch about 2 years ago, its a sprung center button clutch, he re builds you old clutch, I cant say enough good things about it. It is holding 380rwkw now and has held over 320rwkw for the previous 2 years, no slipping and good for street driven cars aswell, not as aggressive as other button clutches ive driven before.
Cost me $700,

Mine is an R33 box so i run an Exedy twin plate 33GTS-T clutch in mine. They are around 2k.
Try giving Jim Berry a call, he does the clutch Maatouk Racing's VLTs.. 9 and 10 second proven.
Well the twin plate comes with it's own special flywheel which was the suit an rb25, so i guess you could say i'm using an RB25 flywheel. Before that i was using an n/a vl flywheel.

anyone had any experiance with these clutchs?
should of got a custom made clutch, with pressure plate tightened to the 1700kg mark with a solid button center.
i dont see that holding 300rwkw with a cushion center and only a light clamp load
