Hey everyone, just thought i would let you guys know im probably buying this VL calais tomorrow! Went and looked at it this afternoon, and its in mint condition! The only few problems it has are that the rear electric windows aren't working (apparently just faulty switches); rust somewhere in the exhaust system; tail light globe needs replacing; and it blows a little smoke on start up (hopefully a faulty fuel pressure regulator). Other than that its immaculate, only 125,000kms, repsrayed in 2pac blue; all other electrics work; original wheels; no rust; and clean as a whistle! Just going back tomorrow to see the log books and give it a revs check, and we've agreed on $7300 with 12 months full rego!!! What do you guys think? anything in particular to look out for before i buy it? oh and heres the link for it hehe.. http://www.autotrader.com.au/iteminfo/adnumber_W1097915200237_kw_vl_loc_locRZSQregtAVSCd istRZSQAVSCstateRZSQ9AVSCregRZSQ_off_6_sect_Automo tive_sort_otRZSQ1BJDZfdRZSQSearchDisplayPriorityIn dAVSCotRZSQ1BJDZfdRZSQFirstPublished_sqt_0_srchby_ mmbsRZSQMakeAVSCsrchbyRZSQmkmdlAVSCmkdlsRZSQHolden MRFXCalais_stpg_1_subs_Used+Cars_ (http://www.autotrader.com.au/iteminfo/adnumber_W1097915200237_kw_vl_loc_locRZSQregtAVSCdistRZSQAVSCstateRZSQ9AVSCregRZSQ_off_6_sect_Automotive_sort_otRZSQ1BJDZfdRZSQSearchDisplayPriorityIndAVSCotRZSQ1BJDZfdRZSQFirstPublished_sqt_0_srchby_mmbsRZSQMakeAVSCsrchbyRZSQmkmdlAVSCmkdlsRZSQHoldenMRFXCalais_stpg_1_subs_Used+Cars_) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Looks good man, stock as a rock! Just so you know, they HAVE to fix the rear windows. Its a roadworthy item (they must be able to open). Does it have an alarm? If not, GET ONE ASAP.

Thats pretty expensive man.... Get them to get the rear windows working, new valve stem seals (smoke on startup) and maybe it might be slightly worth it.

thats just how much they are from what ive seen. its actually a fair bit cheaper than some other stockers on the market. I'll talk to them about the rear windows, cos they are getting the pink slip sorted tomorrow off their usual guy (i smell bodgy mechanic hehehe). Look forward to having it in my driveway and being able to go for a cruise in it!! heres a link to a carsales page... anything under $6000 has huge kms, and alot that ive gone to look at have clearly been thrashed or are really uncared for... I reckon im gettin an ok price, especially with 12 months rego!!

If its white smoke on start up as stated above most likely valve stem seals... id jump on getting that fixed straight away... had that issue with my vl and if you dont fix it can caus a few problems... can cause you lifters to die, warp you lifter cradles and wear out the cam... most of all you will constantly topping up your oil!!... apart from that rear windows stuffing up is common try taking the swtichs out and changing the rears to the front ones and see if they work... apart from that nice looking car

Its a nice car, but your buying it from a caryard, who is basically shafting you. At least get it inspected by a third party... last thing you want to do after paying $7300.00 (lol) is realise your "faulty regulator" is indeed valve stem seals.

hmm yeh.. well its not white smoke, its the exact same sort of smoke that my vp had on start up, blows out brownish smoke and then runs fine after that. My mate who is a mechanic and has owned several VL's is coming with me tomorrow to check it out, and im not rushing into anything as if been to look at 4 or 5 already, this one being the best and cheapest!
