try the For-sale and Wanted section ur best bet is the Cars + Bikes section create a thread in there, title it [WTB] wich stands for want to bye, and u just ask in there, people mite pm (personal message) you and you will carry on from there. also try www.justcommodores.com.au (http://www.justcommodores.com.au) they will help you out alot more. cheers welcome to the sight mate.

Comes down to what you like the look of better. The VS had better build quality than the VT, but the VT looks more modern. Personally I would be going for a VS SS over the long wheel base car

VT Calais slammed on nice rims look pretty tough... Also just wondering was the base model VT 5l a full roller? I think it was and the blocks are clearenced for a stroker crank allready?

EVLHSV - u obviously know nothing about them........... VS motor was hydrolic, hydrolic lifters, cam ec... VT Motor was roller, roller lifters, roller cam, roller rockers(on some models) and also clearanced for a 355 crank they also run sequential injection, where as the vs dosn't. unless you go Series 3 VS which has the VT motor

Cheetr - get off your hight horse... My old man had a S1 VT SS bought new and kept it for 3 years. Sold it as soon as the warranty ran out because it was the biggest heap of shit. 3 diffs, rattles behind the dash from day 1, broke down 3 times due to ECU faults, tail lights kept failing, and there are many more little problems that I can't remember. It spent 8 weeks of the 3 years back at the dealer being fixed under warranty Previous V8 Commodore he has had have been much better I know of other people who have had similar problems with S1 VTs The difference between VS and VT 5L doesn't mean anything to the average man who is most likely to just put an exhaust on... especially if they are talking about Statesman's and Calais' The big difference between VS and VT S1 are the manual boxes... crappy T5 with the VS 5L and the Getrag with the VT S1

VS series 3 had the getrag as well. i own a series one vt 5ltr and a vs 5ltr and a vp 5ltr. vt is teh best out of all, especially for fuel economy running with sequential injection. who cares about your dads car, there was plenty of vs's the same, i could sit there all day and rattle off problems with the vp and vs, but i dont. overall vt has plenty more newer technology, and the motors are built 10times better than a vs, and way better fuel economy. id got the vt bud. FRCFED, get a Series 3 vs Statesman, and u cant go wrong, they have the vt motor.

I don't know what parts you used, but it's hardly a factory built car though is it Personally I would buy series2 if I were looking at VTs

S2 VTs are dangerous as well though, the early LS1s were shocking many people have lost out big time buying those things now that factory warrantys etc have run out... I'd steer clear of VTs altogether they don't look nearly as tough as VS' anyway... +1 for VS SS or VS Calais over here.

my ute looks like a vs ss ute, but i personally like the vt look better tbo. i guess everyone is different dude. watch out for series 2 vt, they had piston slap, most of them were repaired under warranty, but still be careful.

I'd say go the VS Calais series 2 , if you can buy a clean one it will be the best car you've ever owned . I've had mine for 3 years now , only time its played up was when the ign module **** itself ......... It's reliable & a pretty hot looking model too . ATMO BT1 has seen mine , Black with GTS wheels on it .

why series 2? they run the hydrolic block. series 3 is the best bet if your goin vs.

sorry alex, i'm going to have to agree with CHEETR.....i'd be going the VT. Roller cam opens up a whole new world of cams....and the block is ready for the 355 crank that your GOING to put in hehe.... or alternatively you could just buy a S1 VT GTS like i did and have all the fun in the world.....like me.....

VT GTS is a totally different story... we are talking auto Calais' here. Most people don't buy a luxuary model then go chasing power and quick times Welcome back Rob

yeah cheers, just needed a break from here......all the shit was effecting my brain... yeah i guess....buy the calais (for the block) and the 1st mod should be piss the auto of and throw in a t56....did the calais come in 3:45s? if not that can be the 2nd mod.....then the crank.....hehe

Might as well buy a VT GTS if your going to do that... will end up costing similar money

The VS blocks are clearanced for the stroker cranks as well , fair enough the ser 1 VT has roller cam & lifters but they're both small cams anyway not really gonna count for that much a perfomance gain is it ? The VT blocks aren't all they are hyped up to be , I've heard of quite a few having core shift problems . Besides all this , I think FCE-FED is looking at the cars as a whole package not just the running gear

My dad has a S1 VT SS and had nothing but problems... told me to steer clear of VT's when i was looking at buying a VT Senator so i brought a VS instead... His car went back to GMH 3 times to have the motor checked... After pulling the motor down 3 times they honed and decked the block put oversized pistons in it which cleared up alot of the problems... After seeing his car spend more time back at GMH then he got to drive it i wouldnt buy one...

well i guess it all depends on what he wants out of them... but: Quote: Originally Posted by FRCFED how would they go against each other? this leads me to believe he is going to want some performance at some stage as he appears to be interested in speed. I reckon the VT would just pip the VS out.....just prurely on weight. I had a SC mag at home with a guy who has built a 355 VT Calais lays down around 240rwkw which is plenty quick, even uses the bananas....but he converted it to manual.
