hey guys with a factory low mount set up is there any difference with high mount can u get more power from a high mount or low mount then the other can u fit a bigger garret turbo on the factory low mount is there enough room...

Position of the turbo make little difference I would say, its the quality of the manifold that produces the extra power and quicker spool times

well im only 16 lol and aint got much cash ill have the stock 1 from a while but later on i would like to put a 35/40r on it

mikey has a 35/40 hanging off his low mount. The main reason people go high mount is for looks and easier to service because you can access stuff easier.

yes you can fit 35/40s on the standard manifold, you just need a spacer plate. Either way, worry about converting it to standard turbo first...

yer good thort lol what do u reakon i should spent on just getting the factory setup what price are they aroound???

depends how well you want to do it, you could probably do it for less than 1500 with a cooler if you didn't mind keeping the weak n/a gearbox and diff. To do it "properly" costs much more.

im just keeping the standard diff and box atm how much boost cam i put throw with the factory tubos setup and not doin any engine mods

you will need an intercooler if you are doing a high comp conversion (turbo etc bolted onto your current engine), also a bigger than factory exhaust. After that i would leave it on standard boost if it is an auto as the n/a autos sometimes die very very quickly once they start to see boost.

Yeah the lock up torque convertor spline can fail in the n/a, thats why the turbo auto doesnt use a lock up, My factory turbo setup just grazes the side of the structural member, there is just *no* room for a low mount turbo thats any bigger, I think my whole engine has shifted or the mounts are out of whack a bit, I seem to remember there was a 1/2" clearance between turbo mount flange and side member, that has sort of gone away now...! You might have same issue, its certainly easier to work on setups with high mount but I wonder about the cops, almost everytime I have been pulled up they go straight to look at the type of turbo I have <guh> Then sort of look a bit dissapointed, dont know if its because its factory or because they cant give me a yellow !

My 35/40 fits on the low mount manifold, I had to put 2 spacer plates on it, but it clears every thing else fine,

yes topmounts are much easyer to work on.... personally i like my lowmount turbo setup.. even if its a bitch to work on, i just dont like the idear off all that heat up high in your engine bay. but topmounts do look beter.
