IF they get into a chase which happins once every blue moon, then wats the point of a fast car, so they can overtake them, or nudge them off the road at 180kmph + like in movies haha
most high speed chases are in pieces of **** that dont even go fast and the commo v6 can keep up with anyway
and a m3 is stupid, whats the point of paying all that money so they can cruise around with all these luxaries that bmws come with

This may come as a surprise to some, but police don't pay retail for their vehicles and they usually sell them for more than they paid for them.
They are always testing new vehicles: Audi A4, A6, BMW 3 series, M series, Camrys, Aurions, WRXs, EVOs, etc... you name it.
If they are using new cars, I guarantee its because they are saving money (probably through higher resale value and/or better fuel economy) without compromising on performance and reliability.

NSW don't use WRX's, they trialled them briefly back in the late 90's and they also don't use M3's

i have seen undercover cops in 180's and silvias before pulling people over. so its really nothing new. just dont drag off at lights and pretty hard to get caught then.
