hey guys, im just wondering if all Manual 1987 sl and executive VL's came out with a tacho and not clocks? If a manual VL has a clock does that mean that it has been converted to manual or that they've changed the cluster?
cheers fellas.

yeah mate but the problem is that its on a car that im looking to buy so i can't get the vin number right now, does anyone know?
Tacho's were standard on Berlina, Calais and all Turbo models unless offered as part of a dealer pack or other arrangement. If a manual VL has a clock it means that its a non-turbo SL or Executive.

Nah their not mate, I got the sh*tty clock in mine. Unless yours was from an SL Turbo?
Nope, SL Manual NA. the dash did look very stock as the car was pritty stock and the oil pressure gauge worked meaning the loom was changed if the dash was also.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't.
no analog clock...
from my understanding is that only turbo SL's Exec got a tacho dash... The Non turbos had the analog clock...
Alot of cars dont have a tacho that are manuals even new car's...
If you cannot tell by the sound of the engine when to change gears you should not be driving a manual then...

i had a 1 owner SL manual n/a s2 and that was tacho from factory. And also noticed that all the other factory SL manual n/a cars that i looked at had a tacho. but maybe it was because they were all series 2 models i looked at ? i dont know but yer that just what ive noticed in my travels
its a fairly ****ing safe thing to say that if you have a manual u need a tacho no? Otherwise how else are females supposed to know when to change gears. **** me if they didnt have red line, they would drive them like auto's I swear.... "Honey why is the car making noise" "Cos your still in first dear doing 90" *BANG SPLAT POOT* 6 legs out of bed......
Only manual car Ive actually seen without a tacho is a hyundai. Thats got me ****ed on why it wouldnt have a tacho.... Then again it is an asian car (no offense to asians, but hello sunshine. Man u AL, needs ****ing tacho.
