Hey people, time for your opinion, I personaly think vl's have had there time in the spot light and most have been thrashed and abused, whats your opinion?
Depends not all,Few VL's have been always garaged looked after vehicles since new it applys with all cars in general! Most of the RARER VL's are not modified or touched all depends on the owner or previous owners.
Thats not an "unfortunt" thing.. makes the nice ones stand out and worth more..
as some say.. VLs are everywere.. For..2k ones.. not 5k+ ones..
My mum had one! LOL! - did it drop "coolers"? do a flat 12? no? Piss off.. My mum had a pulsar also! and it was better..

anyones parents' stock series 2 VL is a potential street car record holder
Pretty stupid thread...it doesn't come down to the car it comes down to the owner of the car...you could have a owner of VX clubsport and they thrash it and treat it like crap so whats the difference... it is the like the BT! (Been Thrash) even though they have had a full driveline rebuild ppl still think they are thrashed out buckets!
My 2 c anyways!
As with any car, there are good and bad examples. Theyre cheap which is why alot of younger guys can afford them (and get a bad rep for the genuine enthusiast) Most of them are good value for money, but itll be a while before they are in air tight bubbles and temperature controlled environments to protect them for future investment.

so where is rubin these days lol?
i rkn yes, they are thrashed, clapped out rust buckets........
..... that can sumtimes be in good condition

These cars are all getting old now, so most of them will have done a lot of miles, thrashed, or not.
As cars get old, more things start to wear out and go wrong. That is why cars depreciate and become worth much less as time goes on.

My dad is building a tt vlt with twin t04's on it,
doubt it will be a record holder but still funny my old man is 70
Interesting thread.
No, I don't think all VLs are thrashed out rust buckets. (Although there's more bad, then good, as I've seen)
We just picked up a Series 2 88 SL Auto, for my brother for $3200 and it's a f***ing straight ass car and drives beautiful.
I don't thrash mine, but the owner before me used too. (It runs like a dream now though)
Then there's my dad's VL V8 Calais. Well that's far from a thrashed rust bucket. $40,000 spent on a 20 year old car= Damn near like new.
It's more the way the person treats it, rather then the car. My mates have VSs and both of them blew up and one needed a new gearbox and VSs are like 10 years newer then VLs, go figure.
As someone said before, even a VX Clubsport could be a thrashed POS if the owner is that much a d***head, to treat it like that.

My mates mum owns an original 86' 5spd vl berlina turbo with 140 thou kays on it.
never thrashed, still on 6 pound, only mods its ever had were nice pink fluffy seat covers, this thing is absolutly MINT.
i doubt she knows the value it holds, but i do know she'll never sell it, especially to me cos ive tried again and again, (she knocked back my offer of 10k)
btw. she is the original owner.
i think this proves not ALL vl's are thrashed out. hehe
