Im sure this thread hasnt been done before. Why is a sl vl commodore so prized because it was ounce thrashed by the cops. They lived a hard life from day dot and are ****ty sl's and yet people are demanding ridiculous prices because they were thrashed as a baby? WTF is the go here? Every model of commodore has been featured as a pursuit car but yet people think because they have a BT1 is ****in sik uleh and its the shiz niz................. I know a lot of people agree with me and its beyond a joke. THEY ARE AN SL thrashed by the pigs and are worth no more than any other vl. Its the history... What makes vl's such great cars?... Ask any1 from overseas to look at one and they will say its looks **** and its a **** car... I love em, and most of u all love em but its got alot to do with the history... You pay more for what more people want, not for what its worth... My 2 cents... not here 2 argue

it was thrashed..tru, but i think alot of other VL's not driven by cops have been thrashed 2. i garentee you most of them have had engine rebuilds.. and even if u buy a calais, its 20 years old, its gonna need a rebuild.

ok for one about 90% of vlt's have been thrashed so lets just stop that cause im sick of hearing people saying "theyve been thrashed by pigs". ok maby my car has been thrashed buy pigs but it was serviced correctly by a holden dealer, apposed to a calais turbo or a berlina turbo that has been thrashed and never serviced properly. ok ill give you the fact that they are an SL but they have calais options heavy duty wiring, lumbar supports in the seats. and im sure there are more calais turbos than bt1 turbos.........

I agree. i have a sl turbo (not bt1) and it is so basic its not funny. i just bought an immac restored vl series 2 calais NA and it is so much better even though its not turbo. A bt1 depending on mods should not go for much over $7000.

Its the fact they are sl's... and the fact Every model of commodore has been featured as a cop car..... If anything a calais is worth a ton more because of the extra's eg electrics etc. Just because it was ounce owned by the government dosent make it gold.. i rekon calais25t has a point. whats all they hype about. i rekon someone made hype and the rest followed. like yo-yo's were cool for a bit because they were not cool for a long time and re-made to be cool. i think most people buy them because they're yellow and can say their car is an ex-cop car and it's somewhat better. i dont get it either...
