I bought my Calais allmost 2years ago off a nice old guy that had owned the car since 1987,he had looked after the car very well considering its age and was just what I was after. The Calais was stock as a rock,heres a pic of it when i first got it.Note the stock exhaust. After some TLC and some new badges About a year later I had all components related to suspension replaced with new items and while I was at it had the car lowered a bit by pedders.Also thought it was about time to replace the exhaust with a full 3" system inclueding dump pipe and hi-flow cat.I also put some elbow grease in and polished the calais rims and finished with some new number plates and venetians and stereo system. Not long after doing the exhaust,the new found power made the gearbox cry out enough.This surprised me as I hardly get up the car and the gearbox was working well upto that point.Once again I dug deep into my wallet and had the gearbox rebuilt and strengthened with kevlar bands,shift kit etc, but still kept its daily driveability as my cars a cruiser not a racer. I have plans of putting on VT Calais International's on and installing a FMIC in the near future as well as a well deserved dyno tune,but what ever I do I will make sure to keep the car looking clean and classy. Chris,you know that when you get your car up and running were gonna have to get some photos of ours cars together,maybe Brendon might be keen for that in the near future?For the meantime Im just gonna have to settle for this photo of our cars from the calais estate cruise,which you also have on your post about your car.
