Hey hows it going.
This guy down here where i live is selling a VN Commodore 6cylinder auto.
VN Group A Bodykit, Dark Purple paint job.
Now he wanted $6 grand for it but now put it down to $4.
The engine bay seems normal interior seems alright, but only had a quick glance.
Now what im wondering is selling a VN 6 cylinder for $6 grand is a bit overpirced.
And it doesnt sound the best do u think the paint job / bodykit is where the price is or is he looking for a price he''s not gonna get.
I will have a look at the car tomorrow hopefully.
Cheers
well mate depending how good the paint/kit is, but for 4000 i think its a pretty good buy, but i dont think its a very good time to buy one as i predict that you will be getting vs for that price in the the next year with the release of the new commodore! but if you think its nice and a decent car then go for it!!
yeh motor are shoddy.. gearboxes are quite weak.. go pretty well but dont last much longer then 200,000kms..
mate had one at 200k's and yeh fell to bits engine wise.. oil leaks etc..
look at the odometer and the service book....if it has too manny kms or the book service part has not been filled out than dont bother (home mechanic more than likley or not been serviced)
have a real good look at it cause when it comes to USED cars u can end up with a lemmon

so just coz your mates one fell apart @ 200 they all do???
genius conclusion..
Get the engine checked by a mechanic, they are prone to leaks and rattles. My sister bought a nice looking VN but 2 months later had to replace the motor cause it was pretty much farked. The T5 boxes are strong, and as for power, they suck when standard but have alot of potential.

It's actually a close race between standard VL and VN, VN has more power but VL weighs less.

unless it's in water....
then the VN powers really start to show!
i 2nd that. the vn motor is a groaning piece of crap. i cringe everytime i hear a old flogged VN v6 auto with a huge exhaust. The RB30 is better in so many ways. Ofcourse the VN V6 has more power because it has 0.8lts more capacity. The usual way of thinking from holden........"Umm.. we need more power what can we do? hmmmm I know lets just make the engine bigger!" Holden will never make engines which would match makers such as Honda and Nissan.
