I know this thread has been covered many times before but I cant seem to get a straight answer. Have recently replaced my stock 4" Dash speakers with some DLS 2 way coaxials which I managed to burn the voice coils out of. They were rated at 50w RMS which is crap because I was only running 35W RMS from an Alpine 4 x 35W amp. So what do I do. I have just purchased some DLS 4" splits but surprise surprise they are too deep. I have been given the run around by various car audio stores here in Adelaide. What 4" speakers (splits or coaxials) are people running and what are the part numbers...Thanx Guys and Girls for ya help.
i am currently running some pioneer (TS-E1075) 4" speakers, they fit, aswell as have good power (100W) but i need more power from the fronts because im getting my amps put in soon. try the pioneer's if u want good power, ive been cranking them up hard for ages and they still go nuts, otherwise if u want a quality hand made speaker that might cost abit more go for the focals, im getting them when i finish the rest of my system because i want to know that i can run the 4"s to there peak.

If your talking to me my splits were $380 for the Basic range!! Would have been cheaper but there was a mix up!!!! Long story. If you were not talking to me I am sorry!!

Im running some Focal 165V2's being fed 75 watts RMS each in my daily driver, and yes they are a very nice speaker. IMO forget 4 inchs, make up some pods and run 6.5inchs.
I want to keep the interior stock so I dont want to cut any holes in the doors or put in pods, otherwise I guess I could put in quite a bit more of a range.

exactly why i havent chopped my doors up, imo looks bad and tweaters on dash are even worse
i bought some 4" 2-way speakers from JayCar Electronics for $25, they fitted in depth wise..just a little bit too high so i sanded the cover off a bit to make more room under there and now they fit like a dream, best 25 bucks i have ever spent..they go hard as for 4 inch speakers
The tweeters dont have to go on the dash, as u put them in the 4" stock location.
If done right with VR/VS or custom pods they will make u door look heaps better.
But if your planning on keeping the speakers when u sell the car then u probably shouldn't cut holes in the door trims.
i bought a set of 4 inch pioneer speakers 110 watt, from jb hi fi and sat them in my dash they sound sick they costed me about $140 but there worth it. there right up near ur ears and there hidden wich is evern better
At the moment I have some real cheap sony 4" ones aha - better than nothing anyway, they fit perfectly, before they got damaged I had some really nice clarion ones (SRC1074). which also fitted perfectly

ive got kenwood 150w 4" splits and they sound crap even when hooked up to the amp. Does anyone here have GOOD knowledge of car audio?? if so do 4" speakers even compare with 6"??? Cause i am yet to hear a set that doesnt sound really crap..
You shouldn't put your tweets up near the top of the dash as the high end sound reflects off the glass and makes your system sound brighter and tinier than it actually is.
