im guessing you'll need something like a GTR box, i wouldnt know if it would fit to a rb30 though. an rb25 box wouldnt be strong enough for a 10sec pass i dont think. i think it would be way too hard to use a mx7 to get a 10.

hmm.. anything can be made to fit. I don't know for sure, but i think an MX7 box could take you into 10's. I don't think it's the box itself that limits you, its traction and clutch issues that catch people out.

if you had the horsepower to run 10's, you'd need an air shifted lenco or something to hold it. basically a dog box. i very much doubt an MX7 could have enough internal strength to hold that power under those conditions (flat shifting, 5000+rpm dumps off the line etc)

Im pretty sure there was a vl turbo that ran into the 10s with an mx7 5 speed

10's have been run in vlt's in Melbourne before, can be done again. However how long the box and clutch lasts is another story.

yeah you would probably get like 3 passes then BOOOOMMM !!!! As stocky said I would be more looking into a nice dog box. Snap those gears through. But I would say a dog box is gonna cost you fair chunk of change. Anyone know how much one would be worth ?

Is there an adapterby someone like Castlemain rod shop to fit the T56 behind an RB30 yet?

yeah that would be the go. A dog box would be undrivable on the street. especially in the wet I recon the Rod Shop would have to. They had adapters to fit my haridryer to my exhaust manifold. And a converter to convert the 12v battery power to 240v to run the dryer. They even supplied the rocket switch to turn on the hair dryer and a 1psi boost guage to monitor the pressure Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

You're an idiot Hilly. You need to stop smoking crack during the day. lol I reckon you could do it, it would be hard on the box but. My understanding is that the MX7 is on par with the Rb25 in terms of strength (Could benefit from steel selector forks but) and the GTR is the same with a transfer case. High tens should be do-able with the stick shift so long as you don't do it every Wednesday night.

Hilly thinks his a comedian. Even if you do have the right gear to run a 10. Driver ability would be a major issue. I dont believe some ppl realise how hard it is to run a 10. let alone in a manual. But as said before it has been done.

from memory a yellow cepta from pet ran 10.6 with a manual a while back, but it will all come down the driver, traction and how long it will last.

They're essentially the same box. RB25DET 5sp would hold the power required. Stop smoking crack.

How would ya go launching a high HP manual VLT? Like with a auto ya just stall it up, but with a manual ya can't really do that. You'd need a fair sized turbo, probably GT35 size or larger, so would the 60ft time be similar?, coz I'm thinkin a manual would struggle until it gets boostn.

Don't bother with manual in drag strip waste of time! Anyway most drag cars are auto Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
