Hi All, with the new release of the alloytech HFV6 engine, and rumours that this engine will be used in a new Alfa Romeo in Turbo configuration (260 Kw). Will we see a turbo version in the new VZ Commodore range or from HSV?
Well I hope so! and one would think that Holden would want a car to go head to head with the BA Ford turbo XR6. But the really intresting point of this is, when Holden re-released the Monaro, prices for previous Monaro models jumped thru the roof, as these became more desireable. Will the same happen to the VL turbo we all love?
Anyones thoughts on this question?
Keep on boost'n , Kris
So what is the average price for a Factory 5 speed VL Turbo in Ozzy?
Over here in NZ they are pretty hard to come across and VL's with RB20det transplants are over $10,000.00 (NZ$) for an average condition one.
Holdens best move was they did a deal with nissan back in 1986 still today the RB30ET is a advanced motor,Plus the shape of a VL is so sexy compared to new cars out there today. I'll say if you have a rare VLT now it would be worth alot to the right buyer i guess

VL's won't go up in value for a long time.
They will eventually, but no time within the next 10-15 years I reckon, if anything they'll drop in value in the near future as imports get cheaper
people are unlikely to pay 10-12 for a calais turbo if they can get a skyline for the same price... which I'm sure one day will happen

Agreed. They are relatively cheap for the amount of power they put out, and don't cost much to get moving.
Im thinking that the "supply & demand" factor comes into this. There will be a market for vlt's for a long time to come due to the fact that most young guys/girls have to try the Vlt phenomenon(spelling ) atleast once in their lives.

Yes for every 2-3 decent priced VLT that come up 4 sale in the car section, there is a dreamer not far behind.
I wouldn't say that they will never go up, because they definately will, as long as somebodys willing..
And lets face it- each year theres less chance that theres going to be a nice clean unmodified vl around..
Not to mention some of the prices around now 15k-20k and upwards.. It'll be a slow rise but I reckon they will go up. As for this turbocharged v6.. eek *shudders*
In the sunday times autotrader (WA) there was a VL turbo for 3k, rebuild with a T04, 3" after market etc, LSD diff but the gear box was blown and all they wanted was $3k.... it was gone by 10am! *******s, I would have grabbed it for sure!
