Hey all,
just curious as to how/if you guys have ever cleaned an oxy sensor. I was just reading another post where BoostnBass said stick it in a lemon overnight, so that idea got me started thinking.
I know theyr'e quite delicate, but there must be ways to clean them up, new ones are $150+!!!
cheers
There are lots of ways of cleaning them, but they never return to new and have good response.
you need to apply 12volts to the heater element whilst its in the lemon, lol
yeah i'd say the acid in the lemon is enough to slowly clean them out but not strong enough to damage them, hehe.
Anyone have any definite methods to freshen them up a bit?
so far ive heard of 1) the lemon method
2) blowing the junk off with an oxy torch
thats what i said !! how the f##k would a leomon clean it!! and old mate said stick it in the lemon leave it for a day wash it in water and stick it back in !!worked for me !! car runs like a dream
bosstn, have you checked your mixture LED's now that the sensor has been 'lemoned'?? Are they showing good mixture??
(sorry if you don't know what i'm talking about!)
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

this definately wont clean it
Um, it does actually, just the juice.
I know it sounds funny, but 2 dyno operators I know have used this teqnique.
WD40 etc will coat it in greasy sh1te, wouldnt do that. most people are guessing here (as usual)
VLT O2 sensors are cheap enough, I have only heard of cleaning being done on $550 + sensors.

so let me get this straight. stick the o2 sensor in a lemon and apply 12 volts to the heater element and then leave it over night? Is this correct or just bull****?
