Hi Guys, I have Installed a Clarion Deck in my Calais and it is all working sweet apart from the Power Antenna the switch on Dash doesnt seem to work up/down. I have used the Factory Harness and have found Pink wire in harness which is for Power Antenna Module ,The Clarion HU advises BLue Wire (Auto Antenna Lead) Connect it to the car power supply terminal for the antenna. So I have connect this blue wire (Auto Antenna Wire Clarion HU) into the Pink wire in Harness. Is this correct guys??? I have done search on this but nothing matches my little dilemma , Feedback help appreciated? Also is there any way i can test the Antenna from the Outside IE:Removing wheel and looking inside wheel arch to test power to Antenna etc... Cheers , Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

your meant to connect the antena wire from the headunit to a positive (b+) of the electric aerial (i haven't done this, i just wired it to the power for the headunit)... i have my electric aerial working on my car (vr) but i haven't worked out how to make it only go up with the radio and not the cd player...

I got mine working no worries.. Goes up when the Radio's on - and goes down when a cd goes in! BUT - when the antenna goes on - it goes straight to MAX Hight.. which looks kinda ****y! so everytime i have to lower it again! (with the dash controller)

Hugofirst, dude where and how did you wire up your antenna to back of your deck and did you use the Factory Harness at all ?? Is there suppose to be any think from the PINK wire in the harness to Deck or elsewhere??

ufo - Sorry but when i installed my HU, i started from scratch! meaning - the whole car was just a shell, and did all the wiring first! so as far as what colour etc, I wouldn't know.. and I personally didn't do the wiring... But yeah, How many wires do you have to choose from?? If your wiring is still all from the factory, when I get home ill look up what colour wire your looking for in a wiring diagram and let you know.. ok??

Hello Guys, I have found the wiring diagram to my Clarion HU and it says to plug the Blue wire(Auto Antenna Lead -from Clarion HU) to the Cars Power Supply Terminal. Does that mean 12v or Accessories ? Help Appreciated Cheers , Joe Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i would go off the accessories power supply, that way the antenna only can go up or down when accessories or the car is turned on, if it was straight to the battery positive, u'd be able to operate it with the car off as well as on..

thanx Jet Pilot it makes sense ,I guess if I do that it will go up only if Radio is on if I chose CD it will go down? Is that fair to say?

yeh as along as the electric aerial is wired up properly and connected to the headunit properly, if that blue wire is connected to accessories power, it should in theory put the aerial up only when power goes to the cd player and is on the radio, when u choose cd, it should go down... give it a whirl anyway and tell us if it works cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

OK ,I have tried the Wire from my Clarion HU which is labelled Auto Antenna ,to the Accessories wire on the Factory Radio loom and also direct to BAttery and Power Antenna not going up. How can I test if there is power to Antenna? I guess gotta remove Passenger wheel and check for wires etc... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I cant see why you would run the auto antenna to your accessories line?? In most head units the auto ant line will run from the PCB directly to your ant (or switch). The auto ant actuator should use the internal power to trip the ant into up mode. I think its fair to say the auto ant wire is a output not an input, thus hooking it up to power (bat or acc) is pointless and could be dangerous. I would stick to using it on the ant wiring itself. I dont know the wiring on the calais but at a guess it may either be the switch causing the problem or the antenna itself. Bypassing the switch could be an option but that takes away from being able to up/down the ant but as hugofirst says, if it looks wank when full up maybe give that a miss. Grab a multi meter and check auto ant line when the deck is on. If giving at least 12V that shouldnt be the prob. Some head units (very few) put out only 5V on the auto ant line so again check with multimeter. Did it work with old unit?? I would- first check voltage output at auto line, if u get approx 12V, check it again at switch and if thats ok check the motor on ant. Another thing, most aftermarket headunits have trouble matching the radio/cd thing, that is the ant goes up (or powered) when the deck is on regardless of what mode, but im not sure about yours. Good luck

autobarn have a range of aerpro factory wiring harnessess. i bought mine for about $22. this goes between your factory harness and into your aftermarket unit, all wires a precut and matched, all you have to do is plug it in. if you need an amplifier lead or mute attenuator please tell me and i can draw out some instructions. good luck
