hey just wanted to know the cost of puting a high stall into me auto and if there is anyone that may know of a good place to go in melbourne that can do it
They need a strenghten even without a high stall and using std boost! you could just put it in and run it, but expect a rebuild either way in the not too distant future.
If you are going to get a hi stall above 2500rpms, use 2 x tranny coolers also, this will help reduce the risk of meltdown, small outlay for the $$ it will save you if you fry your box in the end..

I just got a three speed put in my VL with a 3 grand stall converter. The guy said that one tranny cooler was sufficient. he swapped over my skinny cooler for a thicker one though.
oooer.. better safe than sorry, my mate who works autotrans place said anything over 2500 stall they put 2 x coolers in or they dont keep warranty on the boxes.. just a safe measure I spose.

Although I have a modified 3psd, I changed my stall from 3000rpm to 4000rpm stall and cost around $200. As I say in all my cases "Prevention is better than cure", so definitely install 2 coolers. If you already have one, then it is too easy to install another and will cost you around $100 if you do it your self.
It is like the clutch of an Auto car, with a std converter, if you put your foot on the brake and the gas at the same time, it will rev to around 2000rpm. The engine is making very little power at this low rpm as the turbo will be struggling to make boost (not enough exhaust gas flowing through the turbo)
If you put a 3500rpm Hi-stall in the same car and load it up the same against the brake, the engine will now rev to approx 3500rpm, the engine / turbo will be able to make boost and have loads of power, ready to take off fast.
