Are you remote mounting the coils? If so - where are you putting them? I'm in the middle of going through what do I need, and what I don't. What is the Purge Cannister - What does it do? do I need it? or can it be binned?

Got an issue guys if someone can help! Went to dummy fit the starter motor on the passenger side and ran into a problem that there is no where to mount it to on the passenger side. 1st photo here is a photo from the passenger side of underneath the block. On the right is the firewall/gearbox, on the left is the engine. Photo looks up. Engine is only a dummy engine as just the block - so there is no sump, no flywheel at the moment. On the very left you can see the starter motor just sitting there. There are no holes for the starter motor bolts to go into. 2nd photo of the same area - looking more toward the drivers side (can see the drivers side front rim). Again - easy to see there is no where to bolt the starter to. 3rd photo - again same area. This time from under the gearbox looking forward and up the side of the block towards the front of the car. Can see there is a horizontal flat part of the block - but no holes - and its not wide enough for the starter motor if I were to drill/tap holes. For comparison - 4th photo is from the drivers side where the Starter motor normally lives. Similar ange to photo 3. Looking forward and up from under the gearbox. Can see the 2 bolt holes for the starter motor. The starter relocation kits offered by CHE, etc - don't mention any brackets or anything that the starter would bolt up to. Only the spacer plates. Can anyone shed light on this issue? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I've been talking with Con from cae about the kit he offers , uses a different gear reduction starter + bracket or a mounting plate to suit . Ls1 unit is useless

Any idea what this "Bracket" or "Mounting plate" looks like? How does it bolt up? What starter is used?

Haven't seen one yet . I'll know what the starter is off when i see it . If you go on their site you'll be able to see a pic of it

That and I checked out my mates motor.. but that was an LSX block - which does have provision for the starter either side. Well.. time to buy a starter relocation kit. Good news though is I don't need the crank / stall spacers as I'm getting a custom stall made up anyway. Just the bellhousing spacer, starter motor and brackets.

There's a guy on Aussie v8 who mentioned a tci flexplate to suit ls1 with old school boxes . no need for spacers apparently . But im waiting for the guy to pm me back to confirm it

tci do make a flex plate but when you add the thickness of the plate that bolts beetween the block and the gearbox its basically useless because u have to space the converter to the flexplate if u dont u will have serious issues ! mine has standard ls2 flexplate and a converter from tce which has all the spacings made up on the converter
