all pics my brother took in about 1hr, with no real setting up etc. he will be doing a propper shoot later once he sets up all his multiflash things (****ed if i know what he was talking about, but its like a suitcase full of **** to put lights and stuff everywhere)
thats it for now. i thought i'd break tradition and NOT provide you guys with an essay, instead here just some pictures...
...
what r the brakes off? nissan r33? looks really good in the photos, you gotta be proud of a car that looks that good! i reckon the rims really suit it too. cant wait to see it out and about.

yeah mate r33 gtst 4spots on sv5000 rotors (330mm) sent the calipers to vhr32 and he returned them serviced, widened, painted and with the adaptor plates with new bolts and braided lines.
if you are considering doing it vhr32 is your man, its not a cheap exercise if you want them looking flash though. but it ended coming to a similar figure as an ebay vt brake kit, and even then you need to get hub adaptors.
those brakes coupled with the vt booster/vs master combo are rediculous, im scared im going to crash driving anything else now, the brakes are so responsive.

Looks amazing!
thanks mate, i wasnt planning on asking to have it moved untill i had some numbers to back it up, oh well i can always add to it here once i get some times.
quick update, snapped up a deal to get a kaaz this weekend, so hopefully be running that by mid next week... heading back to legality (haha). pretty much pushes me to zero dollars once again, but i wasnt going to let the chance to get a kaaz slip away.
hopefully organise a radar detector the following week. then ill be saving for some decent street radials.
well after too long of a story to be bothered to tell right now, the rear end got sorted and functioning, the kaaz 2way lsd with 3.9s running smoothly with boxed rear arms, adjustable panhard rod, adjustable upper/arms all with new bushes. so i took the car to the drags, this is copy paste job from the WA drag 2010/11 thread:
"Went down tonight, took with me a shagged set of 235/15/60 MT ET streets and 225/15/50, didnt use the 235s because they were just too shagged and didnt want to risk it. from the outset i knew i wouldnt be breaking records as it was only my second trip down there, and my first with anything more than 150rwp (previous outings netted a PB of 15.5 @~88mph). the tyres being a little too small and not wide enough i knew would let me down.
wasnt confident on the first burnout and only dropped 2nd, limitered it straight away and wasted my time and didnt heat the tyres right, launch was crap and i wasnt rough enough.
went 13.422 @ 109.89 mph (2.453 60')
2nd run did a much better burnout from 3rd, and took off hard enough, with some improvements to be made, but ****ed 2nd to 3rd and ended up loosing boost as i ****ed around with it, only ended up with
13.560 @ 111.24 mph (2.338 60')
3rd (and as it turned out final) run, another good quick burnout and staged, built up the revs expecting to get a green light (redline for a few secs) but the car next to me ****ed up and was being spoken to so i was told to stop for a sec (revving the **** out of the engine for 10seconds+ did me no good). eventually told it was ok and again revved the **** out of it and ended up doing a smoother pass of
12.688 @ 115.83 mph (2.245 60')
as i slowed at the end of the track i noticed the temp guage was on max (never happens) and the battery light was on... thoguht i must have shaken something loose but none the less carefully limped it back to the carpark. parked it, popped the hood to let it cool for a min, popped the hood to hear a hiss then POP, blew the coolant overflow lid off, i noticed the fan wasnt spinning so i quickly shut it off. turns out i somehow lost my water/alternator belt, not cool. hopefully no real damage, and hopefully be back at the track again to see if i can better myself on those baby MT's before i move up the correct size..."
thats all the news for now really,
only i will say that i am about 2/3 - 3/4 of the way to having the right $$ to overhaul the suspension come tax time this year, coilovers etc, big thanks to NZ EVLHSV and 88 chaser for their inputs in this matter, looking forwards to what is coming next .
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
last week went 12.549 @ 190.8X km, now i need taller/fatter tyres to try and get over the wheelspin at the launch. temperature was high, at about 28.7 degrees, and humid, so will be chasing low 12s to try and get into the 11s a little later in the year.
went to a dyno day yesterday organised through a carclub i am a member of, but before i went i was polishing my bay and accidentally bumped the boost up, then i tried to fix it and subsiquently bumped it down too much (deliberatley). i tried a few highway pokes in 3rd to read what it was boosting at and finnally got it up above the lowest boost i can run due to my wastegate (17psi) and up around just 18. when i got to the dyno day i bumped it a few more clicks.
when they gave it my run i asked the guy to read what boost was showing on the guage, he came back with 18psi (when my full is 20)
the guy doing the run asked what i thought it would make, i said around 400, and on the sheet handed in i had about 380 (thinking the lower boost would drag me down, not thinking how it was tuned on a known very unhappy dyno) first run was wild, the didnt expect it to have the balls it did, and the graph had humps where it it was lifting and going left and right. they quickly jumped out and strapped it down better next run read
425 rwhp (at ~18psi).
if someone was to ask me how much power it has i would still quote 405rwhp @20psi, but i feel it is a good comparison to note just how different readings can be, depending on the dyno, given that 405rwhp @20psi was made in winter @ max 20degrees and this dyno read 425rwhp @ 18psi in summer @ min 25 degrees
225 50 r15 MT ET streets, the 2.2/2.3 60's were due to wheelspin, some taller and maybe wider ET streets and i *should* get better traction.
will be avoiding using slicks as long as possible, do really want to crack an 11, even if its only an 11.9 in a format that could be driven on the road (dont drive on the road on the MT's because at 15psi and lower they tend to walk around a little haha).
more updates:
had a track night at barbagello raceway the other night, picked up a set of use re55s and spent a while getting the car ready, more pics to come soon of seat/harness etc.
here are 3 videos from the night, my times were slow, because i was focusing more on being smooth and following the lines, now next time i go i can give it a little more, knowing the lines, and then more the next time etc etc.
best time was a 64.749, almost 10 full seconds behind what some rwd skylines were doing with only 50 more rwhp than me. but i think it is 90% the driver, not the car. once i have some technique sorted i will focus on some minor suspension mods and possibly more brake mods. unfortunately the wind ruined the outside shots a bit, and the inside helmet cam the audio is perfect but the view is not :/ will do better next time lol.

other recent upgrades include high temperature brake pads (QFM, cheap but good), general servicing. and a diy job on an intercooler spray.
its been done before, but basically i bought a washer bottle replacement kit, cable tied it under my airbox and ran a dodgey flexible pipe out through the airbox for now. then i ran the hoses, one under the radiator, around to the other side spraying across the cooler, and another up to come from the other side, only that also T's off to go into a couple more jets lower down behind the nuberplate. when standing still it covers most of the cooler, likely when moving it will cover less. i took power from the cigarette lighter and hooked it up to a push switch (only on whilst depressed) and mounted that into the blank telescopic switch on the dash on the left.
it is not visible from the exterior and only cost about $60 bucks all inclusive, only took a couple of hours messing around
so for now my times stand at:
12.549 @ 190.8 km/hr - 1/4 mile
and 64.7 for barbs short circuit.
seconds to be made up everywhere, but overall not a bad couple of sessions to cut my teeth and get myself ready for next season.
recent track night netted a pb of 62.5 at barbs
also have some brand new 235 60 ET streets now, so i should finally have the grip to get a lower 60' and as a result do a very low 12 or high 11.
goals for this year are to atleast get a 12.2, hopefully touch on 120mph (might be hard since i top 4th at ~118)
wont be doing any more circuit racing for this year, big update coming in the following months, some know what this is about... probably the most pointless path to travel down, but should be good for some lols anyway...
can this thread plz be moved back to the WA section?
lets be honest, nobody in this section cares, and its not yet good enough to go to a different section.
i will do a propper writeup once i have everything sorted, but for the time being can i go back to the WA section pppplllllzzzz?
IM BACK as per^^ nobody in the vl turbo seemed to care... not that many of you do either at least i generate some responses.
PB of 12.061 at the drags on wednesday, in 30 degree heat. keen to give it a good run in some cooler weather.
prior to going racing i had mick at ovaboost touch up the tune. the car made 380rwhp @ 20psi in 36degree heat. i dont believe the car is down on power from the 405rwhp it made in winter on the same dyno. Mick and Tom at ovaboost even commented that the dyno has been reading lower than usual due to being worked so hard and the heat effecting it, not just the car. Either way, the car still boogies!
i decided to wire in a 2 step, the idea being to generate a +12v signal for the microtech to tell it to change tunes. i wired it up myself using a relay, so that when the handbrake was grounded (eg ON) and a switch was on +12v would be sent from the cigarette lighter to the computer. i nuffed it up a bit and mick fixed my wiring, i am yet to explore exactly how. but anyway, the 2 step tune sure puts a smile on your face, no matter where you are launching it or what tyres you have on. just a touch of antilag and the right rev limit was enough to slingshot me at the drags, managed a couple of 1.9X 60' that will only improve as i get used to the launch.
here is a quick vid of one of my ****tier passes, the car next to me was a 34 gts-t by the looks of it. the guy was talking loudly to his mate saying he wound it up to 16psi. got hosed by the vl, but mostly just because of the 2step and the radials.

also if anyone can explain the weird smoke from the tyre at about full track much appreciated, i have another run i filmed that shows even more of it, and want to know whats going on there, i think it may be the tyre rubbing on the guard, i'll probably get some wheels with slightly higher offset to make sure.
Good work man i wana see you crack that 11 sec pass also what computer are u running
microtech ??? So you got the car tuned Monday or Tuesday after mv ??? It's
good to see that the car still makes good
hp and drive good in such hot weather I have to say mick sure
knows how to tune rbs
mate GREAT thread, read the whole thing and im impressed one tough clean VL, and that rubbing could be from the tyre expanding at speed and touching the guards somewhere? have a look in the guard for scuffs
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

not yet, but that was my thoughts. i packed the car up and drove home, yet to unpack the car lol. i took out the back seat and piled in tyres etc in plastic bags :P i think the wheels were sticking out just a little too much.
sweet thread mate just read the whole thing iv got a pretty much identical setup for mine so hopefully i get the same power and driveability out of it and i'll definetly be goin to see mick at ovaboost when its ready for a tune
