Yeah, I was referring to the angle at which the exhaust pipe comes out of the muffler. Must be peculiar to wagons as they specify them having a different rear muffler assembly than the sedans. I thought it might just have been how they were mounted but that all looks the same. How on earth does your still have the original exhaust ? Excellent to see. My first rear muffler shook itself to death back in January 1991 at 126,000km's. Matter of fact it was the first "extra" work done on the car outside of normal servicing. Love the GM stamp on the muffler!! My Calais still retains the original exhaust, in quite healthy condition, as the car has done less than 100,000km's, and will more than likely not reach over that figure any time soon. I remember in the late 80's early 90's, every time i would see a vl, the first thing i would look out for was the exhaust tailpipe to determine if it was a turbo. It was such a unique feature with it's kick up, and set the car off! I'm just happy to see others trying to retain not only originality, but neatness, as the unmolestered VL Turbo is a dying breed.

Very very nice Russ...you have brought back a bad memory involving a certain VLT HWP car and a 351 XB Hardtop that I was driving...needless to say the XB got caught....I bought my VLT 5 years later.

Corsa You did that just to tease me didn't you John ?! She's still looking lovely by the way. Did you repaint the rocker cover at some stage ? What did you use if you did ? Looks very original from that distance. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

"VHT Wrinkle Plus coating SP-204 Red" is what you need. Maybe i should redo my other one before the weekends show. Corsa Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Reason I asked is I've seen a few done with the VHT gear and they look too red, whereas yours looks like it has that original soft brick red look. Thanks. I'll give it a whirl on the wagon. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

And apply heat!!! It wrinkles faster and dries more evenly/consistantly if you can either leave it in the sun or bake it somehow...even hit it all over with a hair dryer...

Wyndup, i found just the opposite with my pair. One i did on a cold winters night and left it out over night and it turned out just how i wanted whilst the other one was done on a nice sunny day and was way too flat. However i did put both back on the car whilst they had not fully dried as well. It's an artform to reinstall them without touching the wet paint. Corsa
