Can you give me a bit more info on sikaflex, never used the stuff. Is there only one type or a particular sealant type i should get ? I have got some of this stuff, http://www.ppgaerospace.com/Products...k-Sealant.aspx (http://www.ppgaerospace.com/Products/Sealants/Fuel-Tank-Proven-Standards/PR-1440-Clas-B-Fuel-Tank-Sealant.aspx) that i was going to use. Its a flexible type sealant that will fill the small fillet and set nice. Managed to find a mate who has the skills and is keen to weld the holes so that should be going ahead tomorrow. I have a plate to cover the oval hole by the looms that ill just paint. And a photo because no one likes boring photoless posts. Mil spec connectors i got for the new engine loom and firewall ---------- Post added 30-10-15 at 17:07 ---------- Well besides a small sound deadening and air con ducting fire that was luckily doused. i now have welded up the old loom holes. heres hoping i dont need them later on Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

That sealant looks pretty hi-tech, should do the job. Sikaflex is a black goop that you can use to fix on door mouldings and the like. It's flexible, stupidly sticky and dries like rubber. It's quite expensive, maybe $20+ for a tube, pretty sure Repco and maybe even mitre 10 stock it. https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=si...OJcYezgWLWM%3A (https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=sikaflex&client=safari&hl=en-gb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAWoVChMIm7Gs67zxyAIVF_ZjCh1xBQAA&biw=1024&bih=672#imgrc=TGXOJcYezgWLWM%3A)

Yea im worried it might be to flexible and the paint will crack off but should be alright only need to use a small amount to make a nice fillet. Thanks for the info, might have to grab a tube of it just to play around with so i know for future use. anyway...progress Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

A mate at work cut the centre of my dizzy out, put a nylon cap in and shaped it to look a bit more original.

Car looks great mate! May I ask what that black goo is you put on the boot floor and inside the bay on page 8? Cheers

The black goop is POR15. A metal prep kind of stuff. I'm still undecided on it. Brushes on quite thick and self smoothes which makes it look super good. Unsure about painting onto it though

Painting over it you mean?

Are you still going to use the cas in the dissy, or are you looking at a different cas setup there since you're getting rid of the cap?

Still going to run the original CAS. I know I've heard people having problems but it's there and it's easy. I bought a brand new sensor, cleaned up the wheel and put it in so hoping it'll do the job

Slow progress. Got the exh manifold ceramic coated Also picked up another pair of VT GTS rims, one to replace a smashed one and one extra for my track wheels. Blasted them and thought i might have a go at repairing the kerbing because why not. Yet to sand/file them Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

very nice, just curious though, why is your compliance plate mounted where it is and not on the firewall ?

The pipe work does have a clamp to go where the joins are but it looks a lot cleaner then silicone joiners. Using silcone joiners at the intercooler connections for a bit of flex in the system. I have no idea why the compliance plate is there. Something about being an NZ new car ? but even then i havent seen it there on other NZ cars. Got my gearbox out today. Fitted the navara speedo drive unit (part no. 32702-02G17) to the 25det box. Seems to work with no modification required. Just have to make a little donut out of ali to space the gap for the little bolt down tab to hold it in. Next up google & attempt to change the reverse sensor because the plugs are differnt to VL. Got the last of my fittings to make oil cooler and fuel lines. Then onto wiring which i have no idea where to even start but i hope becomes obvious when everything is in place
