Hey guys im putting my 225s on the front of vl and putting wider tyres at back
What would be the widest i could put in the back with a 7inch rim. Im leaning towards 235 60 15 but i read in a forum you can just fit 245 60 15. Im not going to lower it anymore just want it to look tough with big feet and drop tank. Cheers jason

id say the 235 would be a more common size tyre so id go with that one might be a bit cheaper
Went to Turners Auctions today....Classic Car Auction including a long time Private Collection of Commodores
VK Brock...Missing its HDT Tag unfortunately but appears to be a Base SS...
VH V8 SLE...
Another VH V8 SLE...
My pick of the bunch...VK V8 Calais Sedan, I couldn't believe how awesome the leather interior smelt...Like a brand new car
And this VQ? V8 Caprice with around 40,000kms...Fresh

What one did you buy?
Believe it or not none of them.
Too close to Christmas, not the right buyers and too high reserves so none of them sold

Any idea what the reserve was on the VK Calais? looks immaculate.
That was probably the best of the bunch...Guide price was 9-11g (guess reserve was around that) and the top bid was 7g.

Hmmmm you make a good point actually...I would have noticed that if it were a VL
Just doing abit of snooping online and it may have been an Ex Highway Patrol car, then dressed up as an SS.
No Power Steering, Calais Dome interior lamp and Strange Speedo?
Check this link out...Mick is pretty good on these strange vehicles lol

Couple more pictures...
Interesting......
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
Both VH's had guide prices of 7-9g and both got bids up to 5g.
Saddest part about all of these Commodore's is that none of them have been WOF'd/driven since early/mid 90's...
Most probably need full brake rebuild's and possibly engine work too

Boss told me today he was on a vintage car rally in the weekend and there was an old guy who took his VL commodore LE completly original manuel in red with 80,000km on it. Aparently it is in extremely mint conition lives in a huge garage and he has had it since brand new. How rare are these LE vls?

Do you have any idea whats happening to the cars that didn't sell? I take it turners will be relisting them? I'm very interested in taking a good look at the VK Calais.

To be honest I'm not sure...
It was a Classic Car Auction which they don't have too often and I'm not sure if they would relist it in a normal auction? Don't quite know how it works.
Couple more picture's just to tease you

the VK Calais is beautiful, so tidy.
Has had a respray/touch up on left front guard though.
love the high beam dipper on floor foot rest in the VH, such a good idea. can still buy them.
