Every1 that has had a VL has had to do this exact repair at some stage!! LOL
All depends how well you want to do it? Quick cheap band-aid fix is just to pull up the trims & get newtech in there... The best way is to remove the screen & patch it properly & put it back together with a VT style trim. If it's an original screen they break fairly easily...
Good luck!

Hmmmm... sounds like a can... that could have worms in... If you want me to take a look & give you an idea of cost to fix it & supply a new screen etc, you might have to bring it over or I can take a look? If so PM me.

depending on how bad the rust is...just jump on Rarespares web site, buy new valance panel (goes from bonnet around wipers and screen gutter) they are $220+ cut old one out, weld new one in.
For a panel beater to patch it your in for a world of pain, expect well over $500 mark.
new screen is around $300 mark.
Like Richard said every early commodore owner has been there done that, welcome to the VL family ha

i got a rare spares panel and had it installed and painted locally it was about 400 all up from memory. Like Kelvin mentioned, to have it patched was going to be more than that, it didnt make sence to patch!

not just that, if you get it patched, the cancer is still there and it will eat it up under there with in a year.
New panel in there, start fresh, get rid of steel clips, install VT rubber, she will last for years to come.

Happy NY, how was everyone's break?
I finally got round to installing some King Springs in my wagon. It didn't' go down much, which is what I was after, but the handling is quite a bit better than factory. It's still not that great though so looking at some coilovers H&R do for VE with Bilstein inserts which look pretty good for a reasonable price
How's the grass down on the Coromandel!

Im running Xtreme with HD pressure plate and had no dramas, its real smooth, apart from getting the wrong bearing in the box.
