16-04-12, 12:51 GMT+10#221 CBF reading through the thread. Can anyone tell me; can a T56 be fitted to an early model commodore (VC) without modifying the firewall or trans tunnel in any way? The car in question is a genuine VC Brock, so the owner wants to be able to return it to original condition if ever he wanted to.

well my charge light is an LED and doesn't have enough resistance but i didn't know that at the time and the light didn't work
so after copious amounts of reading it came down to increasing line resistance
lol now the car won't switch off on the isolator so i have to wire in a few more switches/relays

16-04-12, 17:07 GMT+10#224 Awesome.. just checking out if I needed to do something the same for my car. Obviously not if I use the normal Charge light in the VL Dash.
Good to know though if you do change to LED's!

16-04-12, 23:41 GMT+10#225 What does everyone use for Accelerator Cables?
The normal VL 6 cyl one is a) too long overall, and b) slack between sheath end and cable end is too much.
Can get it shortened, but there must be a cable that can just bolt in? Normal VL V8? Or HSV VL Group A? Or will a VN-VS V8 one be ok?

yeh factory light has internal resistance, i got a pack of 30 led's for the entire dash and the rest worked a treat, did my head in for a little bit haha

in my rolla i just used the factory cable, works perfect
the factory cable though i did the following on my aftermarket plenum
fit the sheathing first and make sure it's the length you want (do this without the cable inside)
once you have that cut to length fit the cable in the throttle end and run the excess wire through the pedal, depending how much longer your cable is you might have 10mm or 100mm excess
market it with a texter and pull the whole lot out
i drilled out the old stop and solder it back on in the place i wanted it, then i crimped the fitting and never had a drama

That and I checked out my mates motor.. but that was an LSX block - which does have provision for the starter either side.
Well.. time to buy a starter relocation kit. Good news though is I don't need the crank / stall spacers as I'm getting a custom stall made up anyway. Just the bellhousing spacer, starter motor and brackets.
old post i know but you could just push the engine through the fire wall until you clear the starter

done one in a VH...
it fits but... had to tap in the tunnel where the reverse lock out is just near the shifter so there is some modding but its nothing that will be visual its under the car.

Yeah, was really seeing if there was a stock replacement that would fit up before going for custom.
How the hell do you solder them? surely not with your usual ****ty 240W soldering iron? Need anything special to Crimp them?

Don't the VT S2 onwards cables run through a Throttle Relaxer?
(eg, like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Holden-VT...em 46028f4a42 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Holden-VT-5-7ltr-Gen-3-V8-throttle-relaxer-and-cruise-accelerator-cables-SS-HSV-/300690655810?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item46028f4a42) )
Or are there non-throttle relaxer items?

when you put on the left hand side starter kit to fit the engine into a gen 1 comodor the plate is a few mm thick so your box is a feww mm firther back thus u need a space you can buy off th shelf converters to suit ls1 to t400/ 350 but they dont take into account aussie cars that are using the starter swap kit but you can buy a custom convertor with no spacer needed like what insane vl has done

Charcoal Canister?? pffft...
however... I "could" hook it up to the breather hose which is the line on the left that goes under the car.
