just use the holden mag style wheel nuts. easy to find to knock off from your local shopping center car park on a thursday night after lurking the kiddies section of kmart
iv got a set on the wagon - they are a prety decent set of nuts
so thats more than one set of decent nuts you have.
also stealing them in a carpark? what the ****? cannot think of anything worse to do to someones car while they are parked up lol.
depending on how tonight ends up i might not even have the money to afford nuts for another fortnight lol

not my most successful evening at the drags lol. didnt even make it to 60'
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
yeah you're right, its pointing up.
so.... what do i do now lol?
new housing, swap all my **** over, new tailshaft...
whats to stop it not happening again? why the **** did it happen like that this time? i dont see how the housing twists like that when rotational enegery is put in perpendicular!
if u dont want to pull appart your spare diff just get the cheapest diff u can and get everything swaped over. tailshaft i would get rebuilt by final drive.
unless you get the new diff strengthened it could possibly happen again but i think its one of thoes luck of the draw things.
every action has an equal and epposite reaction. tyres are rotating forward so the housing wants to rotate backwards.
thankyou newton.
i posted a thread in the gearbox/diff section, seeking advice on how to strengthen the rear, stop it happening again.
obviously a new cv, unis and yolk would stop the shaft breaking if they can be gotten... but the rotation thing has me ****ed up, dont see how you can stop it... welds surely wouldnt help too much....
i also guess theres not much point trying to twist this housing back around... since it will just do it again lol
the stress of a big launch is huge on a car man. old worn uni was probably the weak link. if you think about it, the power goes thru the box and motor and tail shaft, obviously its loaded the diff up because your car is staunch as ****, the uni has let go on the big dog 2 step launch and consequently lunched the weakest link being the uni. the momemtum or potential energy for lack of a better term i guess, has to go somewhere, and instead of being transferred through the tyres to the ground, made the diff rotate upwards because said uni joint is no longer around to keep things in line.
appologies if you already understand this, now i think about it you probably do seeing as you're like an engineer student. but i would just check all my bushes in the rear, check the panhard rod, everything that connects to the diff and make sure it hasn't been lunched by the twisting motion, then just simply replace the uni which is quite easy and give it a crack again. i had to replace my uni at one stage, the needle bearings just get worn, they're quite easy to swap out. if you need a hand just yell mate.
it appears the actual housing has twisted about 45 degrees lol.
havent started pulling **** out, but it is still bolted in up top both sides, and on both trailing arms, panhard also still on...
its not uncommon, Bart at SWB said hes had it happen in a 31, housing swap and welding the tubes sorted it. i'll probably go another step and get some plates made up to resist the turning of the housing again...
anyway, for the time being its parked up and forgotten about. eng is ruining me right now.
dude your thread on watts linkage...
1k for a watts linkage setup...
hmmmm
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
why the **** not i spose... see you guys in 12 months
I haven't gone under and won't for a while, heaps on at Uni. I'm currently saving in the hope I can get enough $$ together to buy a new housing and get it welded up then everything swapped over. Unlikely to make it in time for the BBQ cruise, but I'll see, it's actually possible that Uni might get easier in the next few weeks.
I really hope you're wrong about the gears, they are brand new and I'd hate to have to get another set.
