30-12-11, 19:11 GMT+10#221 TUXEDO - also the same as my setup. I'm currently running a highflow, nistune, 660's, Z32 with an 044 on E85.
The turbo runs out of puff over 16psi.. it'll boost up to 18/19, but the power gain isn't worth it (additional 6rwhp for 3 extra psi! its really outside the efficiency range of the turbo).
made 246rwkw on 16psi with the e85.

08-02-12, 20:13 GMT+10#223 I use the United servo at Seaton which sells E85. Theres only another one at Pooraka. Its on their website. I run 1000cc injectors, single 044, standard steel fuel lines but replaced all hoses with brand new rubber items and making 295rwkw. Runs perfect! Dont stress too much about lines man, doubt itd make f all difference. Plus you'll be wheelspinning too much to care lol

08-02-12, 21:09 GMT+10#225 Ok sweet saves me one drama. One 044 ? I thought you would need 2. From what I've read everyone runs 2 at least. So they are the only 2 servos in Adelaide? Nothin further down south ?

09-02-12, 05:29 GMT+10#226 I have talked to many tuners about my set up and only 1 suggested changing the lines for E85, from what I've read it's a common myth that rubber hoses can't withstand it, the two tuners that have worked on my car have had no issues with them.
According to united's website it's just the two locations in SA currently.

09-02-12, 06:26 GMT+10#227 Caltex at woodcroft is closest to You, that has E85. Alex reckons the United stuff is a lot better though.

Yeah Caltex doesnt have as higher Ethanol content but double check on their website they have all the information. Less ethanol is obviously worse, just make trips and fill a few jerry cans

One 044 is fine mate for my power. Just work out what power you will have, and 20-30% for use of ethanol and safety factor and i havent had a drama man.

11-02-12, 08:21 GMT+10#229 yeah right, i was just under the impression i would need 2 to make same sort of power your making. might see if i can get a hold of one of these test kits ?? that were mentioned earlier in this thread, would be handy to regularly check i spose.

28-02-12, 18:16 GMT+10#233 E85 heading to my home town finally. Just wondering would it be wise to buy one of those E85 testing kits to see the consistency of the fuel??

It really depends on how hard your pushing the envelope with the tune, if your using pump E85 then just back the tune off a bit, if your using it from a drum then you know the consistency will be better. Im not sure how you can test the fuel before you fill up, you only need a ml to test dont you? Most pumps is a 2lt minimum delivery. Not much good testing it after its in your tank unless you want to know if you can flog it or have to baby it around untill the next tank. Then there is always the residual fuel from the last tank left in the tank with the new fuel.
Nothing wrong with the pump fuel, if you remember its still pump fuel and not race fuel.

I dont think its just a case of yes rubber will be fine for a few years or what ever, you have to remember that the rubber lines on a vl have more than likely been there since it left the show room in the mid to late 80's, the rubber is old, old rubber will be eaten by the E85, new rubber will have a much better chance of lasting. Personally I would at least change the rubber lines to new rubber lines, nothing like blocking a fuel filter and leaning out the engine for the sake of a few $ fro new lines.
I tend to lean to the more cautious side these days, the old saying do it once do it right isnt always the case, but its a much more reliable way of thinking over the 'she'll be right' attitude ive found.
How is the car going Paul?

06-03-12, 21:59 GMT+10#236 Silly question, but if my car was tuned to 98ron. If I filled up with E85. Will it still run. I know it will need a tune. But would it be OK to run let's say 100km till I get down to the tuners??

06-03-12, 22:15 GMT+10#237 You need more e85 than normal unleaded. Therefore running on a regular unleaded tune with e85 will mean it will run lean. Lean = Bad. you might get away with it idling (no load), but I wouldn't put any load on the motor in case you get detonation and damage the engine.
If it was the other way round (reg unleaded on an e85 tune) - it would run rich. Not the end of the world. Prolonged use might glaze the bores, but would be fine in the short term to get from point A to point B.

07-03-12, 21:29 GMT+10#239 Would standard FPR work with E85 on my std A8 with high flow turbo (obviously bigger pump and injectors too) or is an after market FPR a requirement? What FPR's to people recommend? I've heard Aeromotive and Turbosmart are the ones to look for?

I am running this gear all up around my fuel pump & surge tank.. and teflon braid in the engine bay.. comes in 5.16 & 3/8 sizes & its a standard replacement for gates efi fuel hose
Good for e85 and biodiesel.. made in america where its a common fuel.. same price as general efi fuel hose
