18-01-11, 07:51 GMT+10#232 Hanging out something fierce, but stocking up on new goodies for the winter. We're planning on heading out on the range for a few days of untouched lines, so been studying the mountains a fair bit lately.
This is my new toy thats on its way to me at the moment, Burton republik converted to splitboard setup...
I'm contemplating those goggles kane. Need something I can switch the lenses out for different conditions, and they are still available from Smith

18-01-11, 08:39 GMT+10#237 Yep, skins for up, board to shred down
They reckon its pretty good for mountain riding, but not for parks. Being that there aint many parks once out of the resorts, I think it will suffice
The board clips together along the split, then the bindings lock to the halves flat when they are put on in ride mode, so it eliminates the flex.
I'm gagging to ride the Twynam North West spur, so hopefully I get to ride it this season coming. If the board turns out to be fairly ****, i'll just take another board out

18-01-11, 08:45 GMT+10#238 Yeah I can see it being an advantage for hiking and riding down in pow pow, but it would be terrible on the hard stuff

18-01-11, 08:57 GMT+10#239 I think you might underestimate the hardware, but i haven't actually tried it yet so i cant really say otherwise with any certainty
I'll let you know in a few months

18-01-11, 09:16 GMT+10#240 They say not to do it with any of the modern core (foam/honeycomb) boards, and apparently works best with wooden core boards.
You can buy purpose built splits, but they are asking drug money for them at the moment
