Have been busy guys, Put my car back together with the ported head and power ported inlet runners & comp cover. Run it up on the dyno last weekend but didn't gain any power?? confused on this i rang specialised power porting back. He asked what valve springs? um stock ones. he claims the stock valve spring would be to weak, letting the valve slightly open under full boost, losing power but not a noticable break down. Ordered a performance 140Ib set with billet retainers through lukevl(ivan tighe) put them in today. feels alot stronger, till a plug **** itself. Have booked in tuesday with btr to get another fuel surge tank made that will go under the car. then another dyno tune the following weekend maybe. Then i will be posting the official back to back results. porting vs stock. Also seen darrens beast missing a calais front. Not to far away hey mate.

You did do back to back results and it didn't gain power.... It won't be Back to Back now that youve put the springs in.

yeah but it's not a true reading. We'll see how it goes soon carl before we say any figures. If it doesn't than i'll be calling back.

Both readings used the same valvesprings and boost, so their as ture as you can get. If you make more power now with the new valvesprings, you cant really compare it to the before with the old valvesprings. I think your power-porting mate is trying to cover his a s s by telling you the valvespring thing.

Agreed...How much for those springs and retainers Corran?

andrew at specialised power porting in vic is hardly gonna be dodgey. he's been doing these runners and comp covers and other sh1t for years and years and has seen the gains. the bresciani boys have used him for power porting done on platnum and panic and they've seen huge gains. 40-50 rwkw was gained on panic, admittedly panic flows more air than corran's vl, but he can still expect a big improvement.

carl that isn't the same head tho. the head from before is on the race car now. but i see your point, but how he explained it to me was that, because it flow's more air than before it has alot more flow/i suppose pressure on the back of the valve and the original valve springs carn't hold the valve closed when it's on the compressing stroke. considering that the original valve springs are only like Ib's or something. But like i said we'll see, and if not than i've lost a 1,000 bux. Darren they were $315. I might be up grading to a bigger cam and solid lifters soon too. Rob - thats exactly what i think. if he wasn't getting any gains than he would be outter business along time ago. I also have the flow gains sheet here. with a nizpro planum with standard inlet runners compared to having power ported runners. PP has a average increase of flow- 23.5cfm per runner. When you putting the planum on.

Id say theres a lot less pressure running 20 psi with the power porting. So hurry up and get it back on the dyno with these new springs.

I would have thought the same thing, but **** happens, be interesting to see what the springs do. The torana is cool, for ****s and giggles, put all the **** of the Vl on it , the colt is wrong , that thing would be MR.PLOW., i reckon. cheers darren Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah i am starting the think the pp is a lot of $hit too But like i said if no gains look out Carn't get it on dyno till the weekend after the long weekend anyway. colt gets into top gear no effort on the spot. Who's heading out tonight? a few of us a getting together at jakes then heading out for a cruise.
