They didn't have black plates in 2002
It was privately imported from Aussie in 02, so they are technically the original plates

If it's even on both sides should be ok most measure from the guard to the outside of the tyre either with measuring tape or the ol fingers lol ...take it for a blast around the block then give it another measure and check everythings tight ......
Did you paint only half your tank ?
Mate the ride is harsh,You will end up with rattles and it is way to hard on your steering and suspention componates.Been there and have learned the hard way.But try it and if you are not happy convert her back.FE 2 is great.
Dan I have a freind with a GTS last digits are 311 on the plate.

When I brought those plates Dan it was the number 0,Not the letter o so really those plates of yours are the real deal. Also there is a wagon(white also) with the VL5000 plates(combo of letters for the zero's)in wellington(we got parking tickets for that when we had the wagon)so you never know he may of had that VL in the past. Also we were the first to get the plates and had quite a few opitions on what we wanted for th zero's.
Cheers Marty

So there's another VL5000 plate going around? Geeezz they are common as hell
I know mine is the real deal, I just reckon their's looks cleaner without the slashes through the zero's....But I'm not complaining

There is a silver/blue VL Berlina wagon where I live with a similar plate. As far as I know it's still around. I'll keep an eye out for it. Try get a pic
