this thread shouldve been 9.0:1 compression ratio only.. putting a cometic headgasket (thus reducing the compression ratio) on it is cheating..

not cheating but changing CR. but it still qualafies as NA bottom end..

with a reduced CR? high comp is high comp, stop cheating :P

hrmm id prefer to see times with 9.0:1 compression.. not 7.8 or 8.5:1 compression.. Really high comp is 9.0:1 Low/lower comp is 7.8:1 to 8.5:1

Yeh but the thread is 'high comp not. 9.0:1 comp.. so why whinge ?? why not be really cool and go and open a new thread called 9.0:1.. and then u can all whinge about cheating and carrying on in that thread, instead of wrecking this one with your ****. I run closer to 9.0 than u know.. and even then... I could have put the engine in my car without even changing the head gasket, and run it on pump/toluene... would have run a high ten on 18psi instead of an 11.1.. and u wouldnt know any different.. so again i say.. quit the bitching.. either better the time with ur unopened N/A engine and then talk... or just read and dont post.... As I helped ollie build and design his new engine combination, its my turn to chime in and say that the engine has 8.95ish:1 compression, a stock engine has 9:1 with a .040" head gasket, there was no .073" head gaskets in the country so his engine has a .051" gasket, .010" thicker than stock, and the block AND the head have been surfaced at least .008". So if you all want to get specific, his engine is as close to stock NA as anyone else here, stock rods, stock pistons, stock valves, about 20 min of port work to blend the valve seat to the bowl and a 3 angle valve job. The major mods we did were to the oil system and clearances as despite the fact the car has run 11.1 on pump fuel, full exhaust and street tyres and 18psi, we intend to run 21 and see if we can run a 10.6-10.7 on pump/streets, then run C16 and have a crack at a 9 without breaking the thing. There's not a single specific trick part in or on this engine, just clever matching of components with proven components I'd say your looking at one of the countries fastest genuine HIGH COMP engines right here Now for that CDI and bigger cam 6BOOST Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
