ive got a crf450x 08 model. have had no valve issues what so ever, have been fine. BUT i did have to rebuild the bottom end recently, mind you it had 11,000ks on it. I love it though, very light weight for a road reg bike. and still very slim. we cant get rec reg over here in SA so i had to get a full road registerable bike. when i was doing my research from memory it was the 250's that had the valve issues, obviously gonna be a few 450's that did but you cant help bad luck.
The only problem I can see why the CRF450R needs to be shimmed so often is the fact they rev so high. 9000rpm the rev limiter bounces at LOL.
Ohh & the titanium valves. I allways use motul valve expert aswell. I think it's just a inherent problem with the R's
shimming the valves is nothing, piece of pis$.. its when you need new valves that its a pain.
so if you get 6-12 months out shimming them then it isnt really as bad as people think.
i also run the twin air, air filter but does anyone grease around where the filter meets the throttle body/carby, pipe/tube?
ive never done it but thinking it might be cheap insurance, especially when the kx's, 2010(maybe before, not sure) crf450r have induction holes in the bottom of the air box.
When I'm oiling the filter & smudge abit around the flat side of the air filter. So it makes a seal around the hole of the intake(air box). mmm hard to explain.

Ended up buying a 2007 YZ 250f SE, Will post some pics once ive gone over it all...
Anyone know where i can get a workshop manual?
Also after a place in vic to get some MX gear?
went for a ride on the new bike ( 2010 WR 300 )....flipped it after about 2 hours and broke the rear fender and bend the exhaust tabs up. It seems i was a little further back on the bike than i thought, and slipping the clutch to try a stand up mono when you are **** at them is not a good idea.....Damn good laugh though and apart from the fender everything is fine on it.
These are a damn nice bike. I had a 2008 RM250 before and that was dangerous, but so much fun to ride....The WR has so much torque and when the powerband hits its much more manageable than the RM ever was. Power is always there and its super luggable if you dont want to be in the higher rev range all the time. If you get a chance to have a ride on one I strongly suggest to do it, so much fun.
Tested out my helmet cam for the first time on the weekend. I've had a ear infection and my balance is messed up but still forced myself to go for a small ride .

What kind of camera have you got? maybe you could try putting some foam over the mic or something?.
The camera is a GOPRO HD and was recorded at 720p but can record at 1080p.

Awesome new pickup mate! Be interesting to see how it compares to my '11 KTM 300 EXC I've clocked about 15 hours on it now and it still surprises me how low that RPM goes! love them!

yeh ive ridden larby once/jyndervich, nooje is one place ive allways said im gonna go and just havnt lol.
might have to map out a loop for noojee.
neerim south is good but i can never find the decent hilly tracks again lol.
Yeah if you just go out from Nerrim South there's a few good tracks like the Pine's. Noojee/Powelltown is another good one & their's my back yard Labertouche. Great riding with many different types of terrain, from gravel roads to rocky hill climbs. Mirbo North is good aswell. Sometimes I don't travel that far out.
Anyway here's a good website.
