LOL so true
Google won't search for Chuck Norris because it knows you don't find Chuck Norris, he finds you.
No standard web pages containing all your search terms were found.

Not in it to lose a ridiculous amount of money either. To buy a good genuine Walky it's alot of $$$, to go and void that is a bad idea. Much better to buy something and work on it.

Wouldn't worry me. I build a car for me, not for what other people think
Modified Walkys still sell for good money. You wouldn't modify a minta with less than 10,000kms on the clock, but one with 80k+ would be sweet. Rip out the genuine block and box, chuck in a stroker and T56, then you can put the original block and box back in when you sell it
Ok, I need another alternator to try on my wagon, but I can't get to the parts-Calais and I don't want to stop the other 2 from running (I need my 2L obviously, and the other wagon I'd rather leave as it is, don't want it going backward!) so I've decided I should just buy a spare one.. but I'm not having any luck on trademe. I looked on some parts website and found a couple down in Te Puke, a bit inconvenient.
So, does anyone have an alternator they'd sell? If anyone in the Auckland area has one could they txt me on 0273638088 or 0210423986 and hopefully we can sort a way out for me to pick it up as soon as possible :P
Forgot something, does anyone know how to tell the difference between a bosch and a hitachi alternator while they're on the car? I have a feeling that the 3 cars I've checked are all Hitachi. Id prefer bosch to be honest.
the bosch alt has black plastic cover on rear half. the car will run with out alt. are you sure its the alt... i have a bosch alt here but not sure if its a goer

I didn't end up starting it up with it disconnected. And now it's all unbolted/disconnected with the belt off it, but it doesn't want to pull off the pivot point.. Just undoing the bolts was a pain in the ass with no working room, but now I can't get my hands in there to yank on it or tap it off with a rubber mallet from underneath.
To be honest it might be a short somewhere, it has continuity from the positive terminal to the body.. but I've taken the alt off anyway (I'm clever like that) I figure if it had a short somewhere it'd be slowly draining the battery, and it still started in 1 second after not driving it since Monday.
Workshop manual says it could be a loose alternator belt (checked that, belt is good) the regulator or alternator, or a short to earth on the warning lamp/volt meter circuit, but if it was that I think it'd show 'no' voltage.

The one with the ****ed alternator is my wagon, no way I'm getting rid of it You looking to expand your collection? I might clean it and take some updated pics of it tomorrow.
