a mate has two things stupid he did... while the car was running (with a miss) he pulled of leads one at a time... that didn't find him the problem so what did he do? took the coil lead off... it threw him to the ground... and he refused to even look at his car for 3 months... he's still scared of it. lol and the same guy fitted an intercooler to his vlct and didn't buy enough silicon joiners.... so what "does the job"(well so he thought) use 3 rolls of electrical tape around it... "it'll work just trust me" lol yeah right....

Winching an engine out of a Torana of a tree branch, got the engine out, tree branch cracked, engine smacked against the windscreen and cracked it. We got the hell away from it. Ended up moving the car outta the way before the branch gave way, but pretty stupid in the end.

What was the tree branch rated at? Should have used a stronger one haha. Fantastic

Haha yeah it looked strong enough (famous last words) It was all good while we winched it up but the weight on it eventually took its toll

this thread id too hilarious to get lost amongst all the other ones soooo BUMP. the stilliest thing ive ever done was when i was trying to work out which lifter was tiicking i had the rocker cover was off, i started the motor lifter started ticking i put my head close to the motor and my mate decided to rev the motor which covered me, him and the engine bay in oil. never ended up changing the lifter that day cause i spent the rest of that day cleaning the bay. sigh

When I was 18 I tried to replace the front brakes on the XB but lost interest, so in the morning I drove the heap to the next suburb with the calipers dangling, using only the handbrake to stop at intersections until I got to the mechanic. He laughed and said the pistons nearly fell out.

Had a mate jack his car up in the dark & punctured his sump. Boy did he regret the day he didn't grab the torch.

drained all the old oil out of gearbox and left the big container sitting behind the rear wheel till i found somewhere to dispose of it. Next day had to roll the car back to get in to the engine bay better, ran over container. killed a big patch of grass along side the driveway where it ran to. The grass is still black/brown. Not me but the last auto electrician i used tried to fix a dodgy join on one of the wires in my tail light plug, by wedging a screw in there to keep the pressure on it. The car had an electrical fire about 2 months later.

Going under a car with just a jack holding it up. Also turned over a motor that had been lying around, nothing was in the sump, the head was off also, so i thought sweet, but yeah defently oil still in the journals, couldnt be bothered to clean it up straight away, just covered it up, lets just say, lucky it was a rental house lol Also my mate did his front wheels up finger tight, forgot to do it up with the wheel brace, drove for a bit until we realised the wheels are about to fall off.
