did a bit of work this weekend with the help of tuxedo, cheers mate. Got my RX7 Injectors on Friday night after work, Also picked up a mint 100% everything orig VLT inlet manifold to replace my muzza painted one with na bits bolted onto it. Saturday late arvo started pulling the inlet manifold off and cleaning up the new manifold, painted the fuel rail and regulator black and they came up real mint. Fitted my Rx7 injectors up, very happy with how they look, cant tell they are any different from standard except for them being red not brown. Late arvo we decided that it would be a good idea to add a XF throttlebody, locky had one lying around for his car so i used that and will replace it when he is ready to fit his..... so we started porting the manifold and did what needed to be done to get it to fit to the standard flange, we got 90% done when we realized that the standard throttle body bolts were way to long and by this time it was to late to go to the shops and get some so thats how it sits at the moment, will hopefully be finished during the week after work hours or definately next weekend. I replaced all the vacum lines with fresh black stuff, neatened up the leads, all fresh fuel hose and clamps, inluding feed and return, rocker cover will be getting added soon once its painted once its all back together it will be getting a boost tee, boost up to 16-18 psi and then a road tune.. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

You wont be going to all that trouble if you're not upgrading your injectors! Get some GTR's or RX7's ASAP

what computer is in it? ---------- Post added 25-03-11 at 12:09 ---------- i just read ur old thread about ur rev limiter problem, im assuming you have an aftermarket compter now to run those injectors? but, running a non turbo computer in a turbo car isnt bad like so many people say it is, but it does make the car run really rich, i remember reading through ur thread you were saying when u had it on the dyno it was very rich, the n/a ecu was the cause of that, if you had of done back to back runs with an n/a ecu then a turbo ecu it wouldve changed massively!

yeah i have done back to back tests on a dyno with both turbo ecu and N/A ecu and it was a massive difference.

Well today me and my boss took the car for a road tune, had nistune hooked up to the laptop, fuel pressure gauge hooked up and the gauge taped to the windscreen, and exhaust gas analyser hoooked up. started off just checking everything with the boost at 10psi, what its always been running. Was quite rich coming onto boost and real lean up top (was pinging its tits off anything above 4000ish rpm) so we cleaned that up, took quite awhile on the road. giving it a blast then puling over etc. We then noticed that it was missfiring/surging on high boost (anything above 7ish psi), tried mucking around with the mixture but couldnt seem to get rid of it 100%. had plenty of fuel pressure and mixtures were in the 11's so no problems there. We then decided to turn the boost up to see what would happen, hoping to run 15 psi. But that didnt quite go to plan, the car decided to make 12 psi and nothing more.. Im using a known working turbosmart boost Tee. So we left it on 12 and cleaned up the whole map a lot, still was missing up high so mainly focused on coming onto boost and just squeezing it on. We called it a day after 4 & 1/2 hours, I had a suspision that the misfire was spark plugs as they hadnt been changed in 15,000ish Ks (slacka i know lol), I went to sprints and got some new plugs, got a range colder (7's) and gapped them down to 25 thou. Missfire is now gone and car is completely different to drive after the tune so far. Is so much smoother when just cruising and pulls lots harder. As for the car not making more than 12 psi im still a little stumped, thinking maybe restricted exhaust as ive got a full 3'' system but standard cat converter, so that is on the list to change. Also maybe a boost leak somewhere ? there is a workshop near mine that has a smooke machine that you hook up to the intake system and smoke will apear from any leaks that there is, apparently he has fixed lots of cars that seemed to be running 100% before hand but just not making much boost. So if I have no luck with the exhaust I will more than likely get it checked there.

took my cat converter out thismornign and it was almost fully blocked, could hardly see through it, so i put a gutted one on for now and drove it to work. just before i got to work i gave it a boot and hit 15psi, lost traction straight away, was a handfull to keep straight, so i think i found the problem lol will hopefully finish the tune this weekend, then see if i can get a dyno run

thanks mate, I try get what I want done but being an apprentice it sure is hard at times lol. the wheels are for the whyalla drags on the 16th. Hopefully can have a bit more of a tune one day after work this week as its hitting the dyno thursday or friday this week, for a power run. Am hoping for around 230rwkw but am thinking its gonna be more around the 210rwkw mark. Then I need to replace the uni joints and center bearing in the tailshaft before the drags as they have seen better days.
