I would say the bracket would have to be a certain length to function properly.
Rare Spares makes an adaptor that allows you to fit the VT-VZ booster. Only catch is it's $600+.

Race brakes sydney do the vt booster and cylinder all brand new with PBR gear modded to suit vl for $600. With the vt front brakes and braided lines all round, the brake performance is amazing. Best mod I've done to date. Highly recommended.

Ah what was I thinking when I wrote that, of course it's Race Brakes. So what actually comes with the kit though? When I contacted them they said it was $600 for the adaptor-I've already got a reco'd booster and brand new master so most of it would just go to waste.
Yeah true, $600 gets you vt booster thats been modified for a straight up fit to the vl firewall, vt master cylinder and the brake line adaptors.
Cheers,
Steve
Does anyone know if the VZ brake booster and master are different to VY? I know the reservoir is different. Just trying to broaden my search for a wrecked car to get a booster/master from.
Cheers

VZ is definitely different, by how much and could you get it to work I don't know. VT,VX,VY are definitely the same and work, better off to stick to the known quantity.

Cheers, thanks for your advice.
Here are a few pics of the VT master & VT booster I am currently fitting up. I got a bracket from a guy on Ebay who modifies VL brackets to fit the VT Booster. The bracket is perfect and fits up perfectly to the VT booster and VL firewall and is very well made.
So far I have dummied up the VT master/booster and bent the brake lines to line up with the VT master. Currently I am getting the bay repainted so whilst that is being done I have removed all 3 brake lines which are currently being re-flared with new fittings. This will mean I wont need any adapters so it will be a cleaner factory look.
I still need to get the rod redrilled for correct pedal height.
I will post more pics up as I progress.
booster/master bolted up to firewall and first brake line bent to fit
Second line fitted up
All three lines fitted up
Comparison between VL master/booster (bottom) and VT master/booster with modified mounting bracket fitted (top)

Have had the brake lines re-flared now. These pics show the slight difference between the flare type.
VL flare:
Flare to suit VT-VY master cylinder:
FYI - found this on street commas
1.The VS booster is a plastic single diaphragm style booster where as the VT booster is a metal twin diaphragm style which is also more powerful and also the best suited with the VT master cylinder.
2.The three pipe adapters are generally the preferred method of use for VB to VP series 1 commodores because it is the easiest option to re flaring BUT if you reflare your your brake pipes it is neater.
3.VP series 2 to VS do not need the adapters for the master cylinder as they have the same flares.
4.The VS plastic reservoir on the VT master cylinder does keep the angle and fluid level on the conversion.
5.If using the VS plastic booster and VT master cyl it is best to use the spacer available rather than cutting or grinding the VS pushrod down.
6.If fitting VT calipers to VB to VS commodores you should use longer brake lines .
7.VB to VR master cylinders are either 1" (25mm) or 15/16 (23.8mm)
8.VS master cylinders actually have a stepped bore but are only 7/8 (22mm) and 1 1/8 (28.57mm)
9.VT to VY master cyls can be used but not VZ and the bore size is 1" (25.4mm) and 1 1/4 (31.75mm)
By far the best option is the VT booster and VT master cylinder conversion because the components are either new or fully reconditioned but also the boosters have been modified internally and externally to bolt straight up with an adjustable pushrod so they work correctly.

so the simplest way is VS plastic booster and res , VT master and a 10mm spacer and either adapters or reflare the lines
I can also confirm a EL Falcon reservoir will work if you can't find the VS item.
Best mod I ever did to my car. VX booster and master cylinder paired with RX7 front calipers and braided lines
Little bit of an update on my conversion. Have redrilled the VT booster pushrod to get correct pedal height and have ordered the AU reservoir plus the seals. I have the bay painted now so it is slowly getting back together and hope to have the brakes finished shortly.
I will post up some more pics when I get some time to fit it up.
currently doing this upgrade, i baught vs plastic booster from wreckers with master, and baught a vt master from ebay, i cannot see a single difference between the master on the booster and the one i got off ebay, any physical differences?, if there isnt but still needs to be changed, how much do u chop off the pushrod bolt for the vt master to vs booster.
Internally they are different. I can confirm the VT calipers won't work with a vlt master cylinder (which I'd imagine was similar to VS) as you end up with a rubbish pedal
