Wow, really?? I'm sure ford australia would love to know their engineers have no idea how to meausure compression ratio's, and as the BA engine is 9.3-9.5, and the new engine is higher, it must be over 10:1.
I'll call Brad at Atomic tomorrow, get all the CC specs, he's built more twin cam ford engines than anyone in australia, see what his experiences are. I'd like to know, I own one....

WTF are you on about mate?? Thats the most imature thing I think anyone has ever said to me on a forum. This discussion has nothing to do with who's a sponser, I couldn;t give a f uck if you run the biggest engine shop in australia, I'm questioning your statement as I own a BF Tornado, I have researched to buggery both stock engines and also aftermarket internals, including CP and JE pistons for the twin cam, and never have a seen anything about 9:1 aftermarket, or a figure of higher than 8.8 qouted for the stock engine.
FFS mate, grow the f uck up.

EDIT: PS, I said I'd call brad as he has first hand hands on experience building them, I have never even had the head off one. Unlike most people on the internet, I'd like to to back up my statements with facts, which at this point in time I haven't done, I haven't told you you were full of ****, just that I'm highly surprised and doubt the figure. Like I said, I'll ask Brad, and see what he says.
After speaking with Brad yesterday, he said that all the stock BA engines he has checked have been between 8.5 and 8.7:1, variance due to factory machining tolerances. His own custom made forged pistons give 8.4:1 compression, ACL gives 8.5, and I think CP 8.8?? Don't qoute me on the last one, can't remember. Looking forward to installing one of his 900kw engines soon;o)
Oh, and back on topic, Ollie (exchaser) was out again Wed night and ran a 11.14 on street tyres, pump fuel, full exhaust, full interior and off the footbrake. He went heaps quicker mile laster and may have cut a 10 but pushed thru the beams off the line trying to stall higher, as if a 1.57 60ft isn't fast enough of the foot brake ya goose!! Will be back out next week maybe in the hope of crackin that 10;o)
Oh, and goes to show how hyped up some dyno figures are, his car rolled of the dyno with 338rwhp tuesday morning and the car is full weight;o)
6BOOST
yep 338rwhp on 19.5psi
car feels great.. i think a ten is possible off the footbrake. but if it wont hold.. the transbrake will certainly net me wat im chasing.
:P then bring on some C16, some real slicks and a strip out

thanks mate.. its pretty much at its limit for 98 pump fuel. unless we start experimenting with water injection or something. but im quite confident i can get the ten second street trim pass im after just by layin down a few more passes and getting it perfect..
i'll get some vids up in this thread in the next few days for you guys to have a look at...
wat im more excited about is gettin it tuned on some half decent fuel with more boost and ****... it's really gunna hammer

What sorta timing figures are you guys running about 13psi and above ? I'm struggling to run a couple of degree's through my haltech at 13psi and thats with bp ultimate and colder plugs, on a standard na engine. It just detonates its balls off. How do you guys run 18, 20 psi without detonation ?
It basically comes down to the turbo. I'm assuming you're running a standard T3? The T3 is getting outside it's efficiency range at 13psi which means big intake temps and detonation. I found on my car (std NA 9:1, std T3, cooler etc) that about 10-11 psi is the maximum boost you can efficiently run on a T3. Sure you can run 15 but the intake temps are getting high you have to take so much timing out you negate any gains you might get from the extra boost. The efficiency map of a GT35r for example is totally different meaning these turbos are coming into their own at 20psi.
There are also other factors at work like cam etc but your turbo has a huge influence and if it is a standard T3 then there's your problem.
Will depend on a bunch of factors, the biggest being camshaft, turbo manifold and turbo/exhaust. The less restrictive the turbo side the more timing you'll get into it. I think Ollies car only runs about 6 degrees at 20psi, it has a GT35 with 1.06, 3" exhaust and medium camshaft. I'd say a bigger camshaft will add 10-20hp and 2-4 degrees more timing. What are the specs of your turbo, IE wheel sizes and housing sizes, and what does your exhaust consist of including cats/mufflers?

yeh i run a wade 818 camshaft.. which is due to be upgraded to a larger cam in the not too distant future.. and i also run 2 mufflers in my exhaust aswell which are also due for replacement.. so with both of those things upgraded, it should make even more power.
It has been suggest to me to possibly experiment with water injection. apparently this can work wonders and would be able to throw alot more timing at it.. which would net much greater power figures at the same boot level. But i honestly think it'll run into the 10's without it.. and once i have the timeslip im not really worried about developing it much more in street trim and i'll think more about a tune on some nice fuel...
what is everyone hopping/running cam wise for around 15PSI hicomp?
Im doing my hicomp setup and am looking for a cam, The car will be driven once a week MAX so drive ability isn't a big problem, just want to get the most out of my 'on the cheap' setup.
Matty.
significant gains with water can be had without a doubt.
water to supress detonation or water/meth to allow increase in timing and power.
kits are around $600 or so.
no worth ****ing around with cheap arse nozzles and low pressure stuff.
I have the JPC Stage 2 Cam and highly recommend it, I now have an N/A engine with this cam and it made 166rwkw on 7psi. I now run it daily on 12psi without pinging and it comes on boost very hard. Meth injection and nistune will be my next upgrades, followed by some bigger injectors and fuel system. I'm aiming for an 11 sec pass with manual by the end of the year.
im going for a 13.5ish by the end of the year...
My gear includes
Hicomp RB30 no decomp plate
GT3082R and Turbosmart progate on rear housing, Full speedflow
ETM inlet plenum
480CC injectors, 650HP walbro pump
2.5" piping and lebspec cooler
full 3" exhaust, one muffler, Screamer pipe
Microtech LT10S and hand controller
Water/Meth injection
3bar radiator with AU thermos
Just wanting a camshaft and spring set to finish off my setup i think... then off to the tuners..
Oh it also says on the wade cams, avoid high RPM for the first 2 hours after installing a cam, how do i do that when the first 2hours it will be on a dyno...
Methanol injection is the way to go boys! I'm glad to see a few other people starting to mess around with it, i wont seem so out of place anymore! lol
Trust me, you wont look back either!
