Databases are a wonderful thing. Sort by body number. Easy.
Mine is still coming along. Just waiting on some glass at the moment. I'll pop some more pics up soon.

The guy i bought it off started to strip it due to head gone, was still driving though, no flip front interior inc dash no front bar, still had 5 calais rims bottom skirts seat belts , had new rack and ac compressor, although head on rack loose and leaking, i started from suspension up after giving it a good clean underneath, fixed rust around screen usual vl problem, dent in rear beaver panel and right hand quarter panel, fitted a new screen plus a set of mint moulds , new hood lining fitted reading lamps above rear doors tracked down series 2 grey interior bits from various places inc grey air vents from a calais about to be squashed at a wrecker here in bris, has blue front seats at the moment just got hold of enough grey material to do all seats, back seat is going to be sedan modified inc arm rest and head rests, new front an rear bars genuine gmh, new finisher strips pus a spare set, redone glove box pad and centre arm rest, new exhaust front to rear , fitted with lpg, aeb 295 processor, doughnut tank, electric fuel door both lpg and petrol fillers in cavity, alpine head unit with six stacker plus alpine speakers in original places , back panels coverd in same material as hoodlining, electric tailgate release, new lights all round inc number plate lights genuine gmh, i will do a complete repaint during the coming year after i get the a8 motor with rb 25 head built along with reco turbo box and diff , it will be running sequential injected lpg, i have a set of three venetians at the powder coaters which will be fitted soon, has mongoose security plus other home grown devices etc inc rotweeler, it is a work in progress will post pics later

lol that would be cool!!.. My NA was brought from SA..by owners b4 me, then towed a carvan around aus.. then ended up living 2min from my house, carrying twins in the back...when i got it, it had i love jesus stickers on it, god plates and god cds in the stacker.. lol i have everything for the NA from new.. all the lil pamflets that come with the log book ect ect.
i think my turbo one is from qld im the 4th owner.. craig do u know if any wer like detective cars or anything? cuz my transmission guy was under it, and said it had some fetures of the ex cop cars, like the bash plate and stuff... personaly i have no idea about that ex cop car bull****.. do u rekon it could be the case?
often people associate the sump and tank guards with police BT1s but bash plates were available as options on all VL's for the general public.
back in the '80s police only really used base model cars so no it wouldn't be an ex police car.

They're right Chloe, it was probably just optioned that way.
With your N/A coming out of Bendigo originally it was probably owned by someone on the land and they just ticked the box for the sump guard.
The way to pick if it was an original factory fit is that it should have threaded tube-like nutserts pressed into place in the frame so you can just insert the bolts to do it up. If it's held on with normal nuts then someone fitted it later.
My white sedan came with one, and I didn't even order it.
I ordered one for the VE wagon, thinking I'd get something like the VL one (you know, quarter inch steel plate), but what I got was some stupid floppy plastic thing. It might reflect a rebounding stone but it won't cope with any sort of strike. The oil filter hangs vertically down next to the sump, and actually a bit lower. I don't like it's chances on rough dirt roads.
