04-01-10, 17:00 GMT+10#301 the most stupidest thing we did,
at a mates place who had a big back yard, another friend brought his old old corrola over, we went to work cutting rust out of it etc, took the bonnet off, and he had this big big big electrical industrial extraction fan, was huge, phase 3 powered one, which my mates house had. so we made up a box around the carburettor, and plumbed this big fan into it, sat it on the bonnet, electrical super charger hahaha, it raised the idle by a whole heep, didnt go much faster, if any at all, and we drove it around things in his back yard doing motokana time trials, yes, with extention lead following the car..
is that pretty stupid?

My missus freinds car broke down so she got it towed to my house i quickly discovered the motor had seized so i undid the sump plug to check the condition of the oil but what came out blew me away, It was like playdo had to scoop it out with my pinky it was thinker than mud.
So made a phone call to her and ask when it was last serviced she said she had never had it done but they said it was done when she bought it at 100,000km so i went and looked at the odometer it read 225,000km
125,000km without so much as a inspection

04-01-10, 17:50 GMT+10#306 well we ran over the extention leads a lot, kept unplugging it, got one wrapped around the back axle too, ran over the buckets we were using as witches hats.
realistically, it was a 1.3l engine with a 2 speed automatic, even the big very very loud supercharger, didnt make it go much faster, personally i dont think it actually pressurised anything, more of just blew air into it.
ill have to go through my old film pictures, does anybody remember those, and find out if i have anything, i dont think i do though, pre dates owning a camera i think...
the first photo of my commodore was taken by the realestate agent who came around with this sony digital camrea that took 3.5mm discs, i gave him one, and he took a picture of my car..

Worst luck i have had is did a manual conversion on my old vp calais went out and spent 300 bucks on a service. got it all finished and wouldnt run right would coff and splutter and heat up quick so i gave up. Took out the plugs and leads and put them on my vn when i got it and ran like **** wouldnt go proply. put new plugs in and bang runs perfect.. Damn was i pissed, i scrapped a 1 owner engine with 190xxxkms cuz of premiem plugs lol
Another one on my old vp exc fuel pump blew. Put a new one in and was up to putting the tank back in, had a jack holding the car and another holdng the tank and during the night the jack holding the car slowly drop squishing my tank through the middle...

FML
Later found the oil sump and filter hidden under the splash guard on the front on the motor. So anyways went down to the shops and brought some transmission fluid, popped the bonnet and found two unlabled dip sticks, one on each side of the motor. So I downloaded a service manual off the internet which said the transmission dipstick is on the drivers side so I start filling it up with fluid but only took about 500-600mls WTF!!
Was an American service manual so the drivers seat is on the opposite side... I was filling the diff with transmission fluid! so then I had to dump the diff fluid, go to the shops, brought a big bottle of diff fluid and had to flush the diff a few times...
Car recieved a engine, tranmission and diff service that night!
LOL **** that right off man, simple things are usally the ones that end gaylord

23-03-11, 12:38 GMT+10#318 ok so personally i have one minor story.. i was taking my axles out of my vl to convert to disc was doing the reverse the drum trick 2 nuts and pull.. jack stands were in good spots, one of the axles was being difficult so kept bashing away.. car was moving slightly so i got a friend to push back on the car the other direction so i didn't pull it on myself, he got lazy and wasn't timing it right so i almost watched my car fall of the jack stands with no wheels.. scary cause i had never even had i registered..
same mate a few weeks later had lost a little fluid from his brakes in his vh, so he filled it up with AT fluid.. a few hours later while driving the brakes were on a little and getting harder cause of all the swollen rubber seals.. it took him about 2 weeks to get the new master cylinder and recondition all the calipers and flush the lines with metho..
copped a bit of crap for that one for a while..

I'm done with this car!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My car was idling like crap the other day so I figured since I just got it, it may have been awhile since anyone changed the oil out. I decided to go ahead and change the oil. I used Mobile 1 synthentic oil like I was reccomended on here. Anyways, I drain out the oil and noticed it was extremely dark and even after 10 minutes of draining, it was still coming out. I decided to go ahead and flush it to make sure all the bad stuff got out. I hooked up the hose, ran water through the engine, started it up and was waiting for the water to come out clean (The engine never went above idle so I was told this would be ok). Anyways, About 3 minutes into this, then engine starts shaking and shuts off. I figured it was all cleaned out so I plugged it up, added the oil and figured I was ready to go. WRONG! The car won't freaking start now. This car has been nothing but trouble for me, I think I am done with it.
