WTF man, WTF.
Ok, so I took the alternator out of my 2L, put it in my wagon.. and still not working.. according to my book all that leaves is the voltage gauge having a short to earth. But it's still getting a reading from the battery and it responds to changes like lights turning on and that. So.. I have no idea, cause the alternator was fine in my 2L
Now I have no car
Update, things go from bad to worse, put the alternator back in the 2L, and it's having the same problem there Must've done something to the regulator or brushes when I took it out to have a look.. and before I put it back in the 2L, my dad was clever enough to suggest having a look at the battery earth on the block.. so I took the bolt out, threaded out fine, but the bolts thread is stripped and wont go back in.. so the wagon is extra ****ed, and I need 2 alternators

just bolt the neg onto the block elsewhere. still sounds like a wiring short. not shorting across starter terminals?check in the fuse box for melted wires

Yeah for some ****ing womens shavers. Someones comment on there 'I'm your penis'.
And don't say they come in 3s, I was gonna take the alternator off either the other wagon or maybe the calais if I can get to it (I don't think I can) and see if that will work (I'm not gonna ****in' open it up this time though!). Oh I was also not thinking, and playing around with the brushes (pushin' them in and out while being impatient) on the other alternator, and the wire broke so now that regulator is proper ****ed.
I'm really worried that I'm gonna have to drive a mitsubishi for a while
(I hope my posts tonight have made sense..)
EDIT: I dunno where else I'd bolt the earth on.. doesn't look like the wires would reach anywhere else. Was thinking I'd take the bolt into work and see if we have a tap that matches it, then try to repair the thread in the block (and maybe a die to cut a new thread on the bolt) Not a whole lot of hope though.. what a **** of a thing, ****ed the block

aint there about 3 bolts on the block that got the mounts on? it dosnt matter where the neg is as long as its clean and tight just take one the other bolts in the mount off and use that

I drove an FG G6E turbo the other day - basically the Fairmont replacement. F#@k me is it quick! Its actually a little quicker than the old FPV Typhoon, so the new FPVs will be madness! 310kW and 565Nm are the power figures for the new F6

why doesnt holden release a twin turbo alloytec to compete with the turbo 4.0 ford? 190 kw standard, strap on two gt3540's lol and boom 680kw at the rears!
Internal Politics is the reason, GMH already build TT versions (and Direct Injection too for that matter) of the HFV6 for GM and Non-GM customers. The HFV6 was designed to be made in capacitys ranging from 2.8 to 3.9 Litres, So the ultimate would be a 3.9 Twin Turbo V6, which would completely hand it to ford, and not to mention give the V35 GT-R something to worry about!
