this thread is awesome ! In My "Younger" Days me and mate were set to change the back brakes on my old car so lifted up up the car on the back with stands set in , ( mind due it was on a sort of a hill ) us being Mr mechanics "she'll be right" took back wheels off to start work then we notice a lil noise didnt think nothing of it till my car started rolling down my driveway and smashed into his car we never put the car on park or handbrake on ... yes i know FAIL !! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

FML Later found the oil sump and filter hidden under the splash guard on the front on the motor. So anyways went down to the shops and brought some transmission fluid, popped the bonnet and found two unlabled dip sticks, one on each side of the motor. So I downloaded a service manual off the internet which said the transmission dipstick is on the drivers side so I start filling it up with fluid but only took about 500-600mls WTF!! Was an American service manual so the drivers seat is on the opposite side... I was filling the diff with transmission fluid! so then I had to dump the diff fluid, go to the shops, brought a big bottle of diff fluid and had to flush the diff a few times... Car recieved a engine, tranmission and diff service that night! That sounds like something I'd do/have done. Wow.

Putting oil in the engine without a sump plug, expensive flush.

1st vl my step dad "helped" (fitter and turner by trade) me put a sub in drilled through the fuel lines below the boot flore!! Then Only to pulled the tank out and broke the filler snorkle fixed snorkle fitted tank .... did not fix hole in line lol changed/installed lifters twice because i couldnt figure out y it was running strange lol leads 5 n 3 where mixed up! young just kicked out of home and had little guidence I sold an original working calais turbo with 19s to a guy i shouldnt have trusted for $1800 because my mate needed a lunch box and threw his contact detailes away. made a lot of mistakes in that exchange but learnt alot about comman sence lol would like to find the guy one day. He had a white suzuki little pizz ant 4wd. a car trailor. and said he lived in furnetree gully VIC. the manual calais was white with light interior and a phantom mica painted engine bay if it rings a bell let me know 19s where chrome blades. any way live n learn oh n almost died the othere day too. I noticed the extention lead plugged in and power on in the lower corner of drive way. as i was washing the vl i saw running water starting to pool around it... very easy mistake to make ---------- Post added 22-04-12 at 05:05 ---------- that reminds me of an other time i was making some toast in the bath...

My mate had his Impreza engine on an engine stand as it had just been rebuilt. He was showing me how he had the exhaust ports ported and the engine spun upside down and chopped his finger off. The half finger fell into the sump oil underneath and could not be salvaged. Moral, make sure the pin is in the engine stand as they can spin round.

Faaarrrrrrk. Just did one then. Got sick of sanding my mouldings for the doors on theVL so put them on the lawn and brushed on paint stripper. Came back out 30 min. later to find a melted bubbling mess and my moulds looking like the wicked witch of the west. Farkin retard............ Hi, I am Big Lees wife. He did not tell the full story, once he saw he had ruined his trims he started screaming abuse at the top of his lungs and smashing the trims with a broomstick handle. The paint stripper flicked onto his face and arms and he ripped his business shirt off the clothesline to clean his face. He is now banned from playing with his car for a month.

Hammered the shackles out of my leaf springs on my hk premier.. Leafs were under pressure as the diff was not supported and jumped the car off one of the jack stands.. right onto my chest Luckily I had a rim under the floorpan or I would be one broken sob.

Has anyone ever been in a confined space like an old fibro garage tuning there 750 D/pumper B&M 174 blown 308 HJ stato when they though it would be a great idea to pull a spark lead off with a pair of right angled pliers to check for an anoying miss in the exhaust note. The MSD 6AL sent the trigger to a MegaBlaster coil which came out of the number 2 spark lead like the zap that hit the old clock tower in back to the future... it grabbed this blokes arm so forcefully that he ripped half the lead rail and dizzy cap off whilst in mid air exiting the garage backwards via the wooden frame of the closest open window. Almost died that day. I still remember it clear as day. Had the shakes for hours afterwards. I always let someone else check for spark now!

My turn. Doing a service on my car at home ( can't remember why when I have a workshop ), was in a hurry to go out, left the car half finished, went inside and had a shower and got changed, ran back out to the car to grab my smokes, stepped in the full oil drain tin of old back oil, f##ked my brand new shoes and my good jeans, kicked the front bar, broke my big toe that was sore for a month. dont work on a car if you dont have the time !!!!

Got a GKtech cooler kit, spend the day fitting it (i had work that afternoon). Long story short, it didnt fit. It was one of those dodgy kits (but nobody knew about this at the time). Spent ages trying to make it fit, scratched the fcuk outta the side of my strut tower in the bay, scratched up some of the piping (called GKTech, no answer as greg was away or some $hit), somehow forced it to fit with half of it dangling out below the bumper. Tightened up the t-bolt's as tight as i could, but somehow forgot one.... Jumped in car, didnt start. Fcuk. Took half an hour to realise i didnt plug AFM back in.. Anyway drove down road, thought "this is awesome!" gave it a bootfull, silicone joiner blows off mid-boost. FCUK. 10min walk down the street to get a 13mm ring spanner, then alot of swearing on the side of the road for hours trying to make the pipe fit on. Eventually i limped it home, and borrowed mums car to go to work. Lesson learned, now i have this hatred of cooler kits. I ended up flogging it to my cousin which we got to fit properly by adding a section of pipe and joiner, but then like a week later that car got stolen.. ---------- Post added 24-04-12 at 17:40 ---------- Oh, also im in the middle of spraying my car, and i keep forgetting to put my mask back on after i take it off, sunday night i was coughing up primer-colored phlem..

spent days paint stripping a set of vt clubby rims ready for paint. hifilled them rubbed them then painted them. couldn't work out why they were still soft 2 days later, i'd used thinner instead of hardner in the clear, had to re strip them and start again.
