When doing an LS conversion and you want to run an old stye auto trans behind it (eg. TH400) does it matter what engine loom and computer you start with? Can you use the auto loom and computer? Or is a manual loom and computer required?

Either loom is fine. You'll be removing any wires going to the gearbox anyway.

If you're using a T400, tune will need to be altered anyway. Either ECU.

So you have to do a starter motor relocation if you want to run power steering? But standard starter is fine with manual steering? Am I right? I would rather not relocate it but I want power steering.

even non power steering doesn't clear the starter motor..... so you can go either way with it I got no power steering in mine but I repositioned the steering mounts and it cleared

I've bought Pacemaker conversion headers and I've read they're designed to suit starter on driver side. I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks when I put the motor in..

99% sure, the only blokes who have starter in factory location, are those who are running turbo setups and are using manual rack, with rack moved over
someone care to confirm? and please dont claim "my mate..." lol
yer tuxedo, definitely cant use pacies with starter in std location, no room for drivers side pipes. ive tried...on a vn but very similar engine bay geometry in key areas compared to vl.

tuxedo, rack moved over i assume? so intermediate shaft is literally a few mm from rail? vl-vs v8 k frame with vl/vn p/steer rack?
...where are the other 2 pipes gonna go?

The owner claims that it's a VH K frame and rack. Two pipes go below the starter motor and the other two go past the top of the starter motor. The first pic is the finished product.
