10-12-10, 16:37 GMT+10#342 hey guys and gals
a long awaited update on brendos gtr!
after searching for a suitable base project brendo purchased this latest gtr "cheap" but with a motor severly lacking compresssion. after discussing different motor combinations he decided to rebuild the current motor to 'something tough without going overboard". so thats where i got roped into helping.
so out came the motor in the shed and stripped down to its undies to find numbers 1 and 6 piston ringlands completely shattered (see pic).
with guidance from shaun @ EFI and myself the decision was made to keep cost to a minimum and do a basic rebuild, me being in the engine reconditioning game i was able to do all the machining and get all the parts needed at a resonable price.
so in went
- JE forgies into the freshly bored and honed block
- linished crank
- closed and honed rods with arp bolts
- king main and big end bearings
- nissan head gasket
- recoed head
after being dummy assembled then decked we ended up with a desired comp ratio of arond 8.7:1
then together it went, beautifully wrapped in plastic and sent to the guys @ EFI for re-fitting.
rick and sean worked there magic and came up with a simple yet powerful setup which hopefully rick will enlighten you all on.
the car was on the road for roughly 3 months before being pulled apart for rust repairs and the new paint scheme. its currently in the panel shop as we speak looking pretty worse for wear but should hopfully be done before the new year (cant trust these panel beaters). which i then beleive its going back to EFI for gearbox upgrades and to chase more power
these are about the only progress pics i have but im sure whitey may be able to dig a few up.
hopefully we can keep this thread going with regular updates and pics and if you could whitey can you please fill in the details of the setup and changes.
it would be good if brendo got his ass back to qld soon and pushes this thing to be finished but all in good time.
thanks, ryan

11-12-10, 11:21 GMT+10#343 Wicked write up Ryan. Haven't seen you post on here for a while although I see you popping in once and a while.
The fuel system and engine management was completed by us after Ryan completed the engine build.
Walbro in-tank pump -
3L surge tank
2x Pier burg 350L per hour fuel pumps (alcohol pumps)
Twin dash 6 feed lines
Dash 6 return
HKS fuel rails Twin feed single return
RC engineering 1200cc Injectors
Sard fuel reg (soon to be fuel-lab) to support alcohol
Zex Race series NOS kit
Wolf V500 ECU plug-in
LS2 coils
Wheel speed sensors off ABS
Clutch sensor for "two step" unit-lag
Brendo is in the middle of buying some go-get-fcuked gearbox ATM, not sure what it is all I know that it is worth over 6g and build for 1000hp.
The turbo's on brendans GTR are dash 5 N1.
Car with basic fuel system before made 405hp on 18psi.
When it returns and Sean does more tuning (with his serious FACE) lol , new fuel system, gearbox and NOS it should see a healthy 600hp @ tyres.
We will keep you posted im sure
Let the legend live on
