hey guys i just got myself another block to bolt my turbo gear upto and when we went to put the plug in for the turbo oil lines there was no hole there to put it in, usually they have a bung that can be removed, has anyone ever came accross a block like this? and does anyone know why they are different? cheers Scott

I had a series one first and it had the holes cut from factory, the bloke that is building it has converted heaps of vl's to turbo and skylines before and has never seen one like it. ever. I have a mate with a stock as a rock ser1 vl non turbo and it even has the bungs in the block.

your series one probably had an engine change at some time, and the mechanic probably hasnt worked on enuf RB's to come across one with a series 1 block, or the customers have all looked into it before hand and know series 2 blocks have the holes and bought s2 VL's lol

And as i was saying before one of my mates has a stocko vl exec owned from new, s1 and it has the holes in it. Not sure if the early s1 engines were different than the later s1 engines tho. but his is defenatly s1 with the holes in it. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i haven't read thru all the pages of threads, but do all you people that have converted to turbo, change the oil pump to a turbo one?. it was my plan to do this but found out it is a huge hassle just to get the crank gear off! is the na able to cope and supply enough oil? thanks

its been done.. and 10's have been run on the n/a oil pump. but i dunno if id take the chance. its not that hard to get a crank gear off. and swap them over.
